Gun safe...who uses a rotating / "lazy susan" rack ?

Thinking about reconfiguring my gun safe. It has a long gun section and a SBR section. Don't have a lotta trouble getting to the back rows, but it could be easier.

Wondering is a rotating rack is teheway to go....

The descriptions say a 12 - gun rack loses capcity as you add more scoped rifles. I'm thinking about getting 2 of them - both with 18" bases to fit inside a 38" wide safe. Or maybe one 30" base rotating rack that'll hold 22 guns.

Any other slick set ups you guns like that can be retro-fit to an existing safe?

Thx.

Jim scoutten has one in the safe behind him on that shooting usa show. Looks good. I believe he pushes pendleton safes they may have something

I am about to get larger safe. What size and brand would you recommend for about 15-20 rifles & shotguns + 3 pistols.

Pentagon are my choice. If you read reviews youd think they were a horror story but thats very far away from my experiences. Being a texas guy you should check them out.

I have one in my safe. It holds 14 rifles in the muzzle down orientation. I used a lazy susan bearing in the bottom. It utilizes two telescoping pipes. The top pipe is anchored to the shelf above it. Very stable.

It has been my experience to get double what you think you need, or bigger, nothing worse than your safe being crammed full on the day you get it, plus you need room to grow. I have two Browning safes, and I need a third, that is why I said get bigger than you think you need, because they were both perfect the day I got them.

One of life's truisms and sums up about every purchasing regret I ever had

Yup! The guy rule of “bigger is better” works here. Instead of buying one big safe, I bought 2 “thirty gun” safes. I can only get ten of my scoped rifles in each one. I managed to squeeze a few carbines and lever rifles in between but it’s tight. I had to buy a third safe to get every gun locked up.:(
I’ll be watching this thread for ideas.

You ever find a safe for your rack? I'm in the process of doing something like this.

I have a round safe made from an old propane tank. I made a carousel with 3/8" round bar stock fanning out at the top instead of the wooden plate and place iron sighted rifles barrel down inside each V and scoped rifles butt down on the outside, three rifles per V, sliding hooks on the bar stock keep the rifles in the V. This takes advantage of the inherent differences between both types of rifles. I leave one V open and weld 3/16" x 2" rods covered in shrink wrap tubing spaced up and down the center pivot tube, pistol barrels slide over the rods. It holds 30 rifles and 15 pistols, you do have to be able to weld.

Being a hardcore pistol shooter, and looking at "30 long gun safes" does not make me envy you rifle guys at all. They say 30, but they really mean 30 10/22s banging around on each other. A 30 gun safe seems to only fit 10 with scopes.

I think you mean 30 Winchester '94s with a thin coat of wax on each one. That charging handle on the 10/22 takes up too much room

Any pictures of the setup?

What ever it says it holds it’s no better than half that if you have scoped rifles, and less if you have big objective scopes. (I need anothermone too)

Those racks work really good in underground gun rooms so I hear, say a 12x14 room under ground for a gun/safe room.. Crap loads of steel and concrete...
