New guy from Canada.

Thursday evenings from 5-7, the ol’ boys open up the toy boxes and shoot silhouette from 25m to 100m.
It’s about the only thing I can get my daughter to shoot with me.
Here she is with a Savage stainless in a Boyd’s At-one. I don’t know why it’s sideways.
And my so with my Anschütz, and my father with my CZ457.

Oh that would be great! Me and another member are trying to get permission at twin for nrl22 style shoots. Love to get my vudoo opened up and going

Thanks everyone.
Even the wife can stack them in there at 100. I keep telling her how much more accurate and precise the 6BR is supposed to be. I almost think she’s a little excited too.
When I started shooting she was generally indifferent. Didn’t care at all that I had guns in the house, but wasn’t at all interested to come out and use them. This passed summer that all changed, and now my ammo costs have doubled along with my time at the reloading bench, but I love every second of it.
Along with reading and learning and experimenting with what works for me to make quality ammunition, I’ve been applying the same methods to learning how to shoot as well, and my wife has proved to be an incredibly good listener at the range (in general too, but I’m sure some of you are married...), and the methods that seems to work for me also seem to prove successful by our own metrics for her. I always make a point to after I mention or suggest something to her to say, “but ultimately, just do what feels comfortable. If it feels awkward, it may be difficult to repeat and repeatability is key to precision.”
After these photos were taken, I told her to shift her feet back a bit so that she wasn’t on her heels as much, and low and behold, this was her next group.
For me and the way this rifle is set up, I find that I need to drive the gun. I need pull rearward with my firing hand and force that recoil straight rearward. When I don’t, my POI is high. Here, I can tell that while she is driving the rifle straight back, she’s not using the same face as me, and she’s impacting high, but we were both really pleased that day. A bit of vertical, buts she’s definitively driving the rifle straight back, and staying perfectly square to the gun with her shoulders.
Going back to the question on the first page about PRS shooting. I didn’t build the gun with the sole intent of shooting PRS, but rather I wanted a rifle that I could plunk down anywhere, in any position, and range and engage a target accurately to around 1000 yards give or take, and I think that’s what I have. Still excited for the BR though.

You really need to get into Bench rest. You are surrounded by some real winners such as Bill Gammon out of London, George and Ruth Carter from Omemee, Rob McClennan, barrel maker of Wyebridge, Dave Abbott Horseshoe Bend, Peter Smith Parry Sound, and others. I used to go somewhat close to you on the 401 until the border was closed. I’m outside of Port Huron.

I will need to start researching those names.
I have been shooting with Jan Miller a few times. He’s keen to pretty much drop whatever he’s doing and meet me at the range at a moment’s notice, and what a wealth of knowledge he brings with him.
But bench rest huh? I sense a whole new build coming on...

Welp, I just screwed on a 6BR Norma from KS Arms in Edmonton. It’s 28” long and 1.25”ø straight.
I fired the first 30 rounds yesterday over 10 charger weights in increments of .2gr of Varget starting from 28.7 to 30.5.
I returned to the range today with ten rounds of my two contenders, and it looks like 30.5 will be the winner, if it repeats.
The first group is at 100 yards, and the second at 200. I’m actually pretty staggered. I called the fifth shot on both of these the moment I pressed the trigger.
Shot on a bench from a bipod and Game Changer rear bag.
I don’t know why the one picture is sideways.

Hi guys! Happy to have stumbled onto the forum. I’m a fairly new shooter (about 4 years) and I’m switching from the caliber I cut my teeth on, 6.5 Creedmoor, to 6mmBR. I’ve got just about everything I need for the switch aside from a barrel. That order is placed with Straight Jacket Armory for a cut rifled Benchmark in VCC contour finished to 28” length. The 6.5CM felt like a great first choice, and over the course of 3 barrels, and a Bergara HMR, I really did learn a lot, but I’m ready to take the accuracy and precision to the next level.
Because this is the internet and this thread is worthless without pics, here’s some pics of the current rifle.
In the interest of keeping the op short, I’ll keep build details for those that ask about it.

let us know how you make out on the final load development! My ks 25 creed is just hammering, and I have a ks action arriving late this week or early next I’m hoping.

Big nope.
The term "assault rifle" goes way back to WW II and the StG44. It is a select fire rifle. The civilian AR rifles are not assault rifles. They are semi auto feed only. When was the last time you saw a military assault anything with a semi auto rifle? Korean War?

Preaching to the choir.

It’s only used today to for its pejorative value by the left. Assault anything sounds bad to the low info.

I feel like this is a testament to the rifle I’ve put together. As much as it is the load.
Let a friend of mine shoot my rifle at 200 yards today, after he twisted my arm to shoot his custom Mauser 404 Jeffery dangerous game gun. Twice. He’s a seasoned shooter, but doesn’t shoot from a bipod and sand bag ever. I had to instruct him on how to get the reticle on target by squeezing the bag to bring the toe up and barrel down. He wanted to hold the forend of the gun with his off hand. He held centre in the box because it was easier for him to align the reticle to. He shot twice on the one target and once of the other.
