Suppressor for F-Open Class

My 11 year old and I both shoot F-Open (600 and 1000 yards) and I’m considering purchasing and all around solid usage direct threaded 30 cal suppressor. The rifles we shoot F class with are a 6.5CM and a 6 Dasher. I realize a specific 6.5CM suppressor would be best suited for overall sound report and potential recoil reduction; however I’d like to use it for hunting with my 308win and .223”. Wondering what is the best all around 30 cal suppressor for this purpose? And do any shooters use suppressors for F Open competitions? I’ve never seen a single suppressor used on the line at our competitions.

You are correct. Suppressors are illegal in NRA high power competition, which F Class falls under.

My son is turning into a great little shooter. I think he has the capability to be a truly special shooter. He is super calm and level headed and never lets a poor shot effect his future shots. Being in Michigan, and him having a chance to shoot with some really accomplished shooters and truly world class competitors; is incredible. He doesn’t fully comprehend that some of the guys we have a chance to shoot with and even compete against are legends in the sport. Some day he will look back and truly appreciate the opportunity to soak up knowledge from these guys; but the best part about being 11 years old is that to him they are not legends, they are merely great guys that are willing to work with him and give him tips and guidance.

The TBAC Ultras are great suppressors, but I would rather have one I can take apart and clean, so mine is the Banish 30 by Silencer Central (made by Mack Bros. in Sturgis).

Moreover, if I need to swap out a baffle because of a strike or just due to erosion, it is cheap and easy. With the TBAC it is a major repair, because they have to cut the whole can apart.

At our F-Class matches you cannot shoot an official (NRA) score with a suppressor, but many of us do not care. We still are allowed to shoot suppressed, they just don't turn the score in to NRA. Who cares, unless you think you are so good you need to be going to regional or nationals.

If you get a Banish spend another $80 or so and rig up one of these WONDERFUL tumbler systems to clean baffles with:

If you continue to do some research on suppressors (I’d also recommend over on Snipers Hide as they have a huge section devoted to just that) you will find out the pitfalls of take apart cans and that it’s not needed for center fire. I’ll let you do your own research as it’s a touchy subject for some.

I don’t, that is why I’m asking others on this forum about it. Do you have any other rhetorical questions that you’d like to not share your useful answers on??? Why not just explain the pros and cons and explain why it is or isn’t a good idea?

I’d like to get a can that is welded and not removable baffles. I don’t think it’s needed for centerfire and I want a direct thread one that I don’t have to worry about another piece of the puzzle like a muzzle adapter to maintain concentricity.

Those baffles look brand new. I did read that the Banish 30 claims some rather unbelievable db reduction that were not able to be reproduced by third party testing labs.

You may want to look at what brands you can find to purchase. Many are listed as out of stock or "backorderable". I have a friend that has 10 Thunder Beasts on order now and he is about 9 months out on them even being manufactured. .
