I've been doing some tests on the trigger pull-weight of one of my rifles and have discovered something about the Lyman Electronic Digital Trigger Gauge. As many of you know, you have to hit "Ready" (and it gives a little chirp) before applying it to the trigger. I've found that, if I hit "Ready" a moment or two before bringing the hook to the trigger, I get higher weight readings than when I first bring the hook into very slight contact with the trigger before hitting "Ready." It seems that the scale starts recording weight even before the hook is brought into contact with the trigger. I'm now setting it up so that I bring the hook to just lightly touching the trigger before I hit "ready" as that seems closer to the actual use of the trigger.
For those of you that have the Lyman digital gauge, what have your experiences been with it? Am I on the right track here?
