I found a gently used 6ppc and was wondering bout the gunsmith...: R. Hoehn. . I tried a search but wasn't coming up with much info.

Ron ran a shop near the Benchrest Rifle Club. In the St.Louis area. You should get many good reports.

Like alot of gunsmiths I'm sure there is a paper trail for the rifle I'm REALLY considering buying it...I'm just not sure whether to believe the round count or not worry bout it. Buy the dang thing and just spin another barrel on it.....

Truer words were never spoken. Or in this case, written.
Any time you are buying a used PPC, its best to plan on replacing the barrel. You may end up surprised and it is a low round count laser, but don’t count on it.
Kinda thought so,
It has a 22` bartlein on it...this would be my first barrel ivd ever bought... all barrel makers bout equal?? Preference one or the other ..
Max length 22` with 13.twist etc

Bartlein and Krieger are quite popular and are good. Brux doesn’t seem to be quite as popular, but they are good barrels.

If the gun you are looking at is designed to come in at 10.5 pounds or less including the scope, it is considered a light varmint rifle. When purchasing a new barrel, you’ll be looking at getting one in 13.5 or 14 twist light varmint contour. I’d say the 13.5 twist is more popular these days, but a 14 twist will shoot good too.

As a side note...even if the barrel has its best days behind it, it will most likely still be quite accurate. Just not

Right now I'm not looking to be competitive. I want to get a great beginner rifle... and LEARN LEARN before I start goin to local competitions...
Right now powder is unavailable to a point..
Before I buy dies and brass and bullets..I'll buy the rifle and let it be a paperweight until these components come available...
I dont want to miss the opportunity on s great price on this rifle..
I'll send you a pm with picture

Ron was a Benchrest Hall of Fame shooter, and he built fine guns. I had one of his benchrest guns, and I have a varmint gun which he built for me, and a 22-250 which re re-barreled. I have been happy with all of his work.

you havent told much except cal,,,,if the loading port configuration suits your style/needs and if the stock iprofile is what you like,,,it will be rite for you,,,Ron did excellent work and the chamber will most likely be a Boyer style which will work perfectly with most "B"enchrest reloading dies,,,,,the round count will be true if you are buying it from a recognized benchrest competitor ,,,,I have shot with Ron on many ocasions and saw much of his work and was impressed with it ,,,my gunsmith was Fred Hasecuster for 30 yrs and nowdays I use Kelblys because I also use Kelbly actions,,,,Roger

Buy it--Ron always used quality components and was a great smith!!!!
Bring to a shoot near you and you will find shooters which will help you with components, dies etc
You can find shoots by going to NBRSA website or IBS website.
Look/secure a mentor which will shorten your learning curve.
Were here if you have questions
Enjoy
