What would your recommendation be?I’ve had one for about 8 years now. It’s pretty accurate really. would I buy one again no. I’d spend the extra money and get a better made machine.
Thank you.Maybe a precision Matthews 13x40 GT. I’m really eyeing the Clausing M300. Something made not in China would be my choice. Don’t get me wrong you can do good work on the Grizzly it’s just not what they made it out to be when they brought it out.
I like the looks of this one. Five year warranty. Taiwan and not Chinese made also....Maybe a precision Matthews 13x40 GT. I’m really eyeing the Clausing M300. Ive got a G509g and a PM1340gt- If i could only have one It would be the PMAnyone have any experience with it? your thoughts both positive and negative please. I am currently using their G9036 model, and have had great luck, but a buddy is wanting to by it, and I am looking to upgrade. Any other recommendations are more than welcome!
Tony.
How short of a barrel can you chamber in each one of those? That g509 seems like a huge machineIve got a G509g and a PM1340gt- If i could only have one It would be the PM
ill go measure-- the grizz has the spindle drilled for an outboard spider- the PM does not and i didnt wanna drill mine so made a sleeve to slide on the spindle with set screws for a spider- this effectively makes the headstock wider of coarse. How short of a barrel can you chamber in each one of those? That g509 seems like a huge machine
sorry but I have the G0709 instead of the 0509- -- the 0509 is alot bigger. on theId love to have a lathe that big if i could chamber thru the headstock
sorry my mistake, i have the G0709. its closer to the size of the PM1340. both these lathes have close to 1-7/16 spindle bore/I like the looks of this one. Five year warranty. Taiwan and not Chinese made also....
they do make a similar PM model with 2" boreThe Eisen I have used for several years still has less than .0001 runout on the spindle bore. The PM looks like the same machine. You can order them with a threaded spindle for a spider. My only wish is that the bore was a little bigger .But don't ask my wife !!!
understandI did not know that.Unfortunately I'm too far down the road to re rig now.
