Spring is just around the corner. It will get better. Stay warm.
May I know, ballpark, what that cost for you? Our $11k quote excluded the cost for the propane company to run a line to the generator and do their connections. And the generator guy said, ideally, we would add another propane tank instead of relying on the 250 gallon one that's already in the ground. Ay caramba.I am in the upper elevations of West virginia and this is normal here. I had a 34K generator installed to cover any issues
True. The weather will get better. But the political climate? I don't think so. Winter's coming.Spring is just around the corner. It will get better. Stay warm.
Jackie, move a little south to Spring. We have not lost power in my area. We had a standby generator installed 18 months ago and luckily have not needed it (so far). I've lived in north Houston 40 years and in my memory have never seen it this cold for this long. I'm looking for a hut down on the equator.I guess we will all remember the big freeze of 2021. I was planning on having a home generator installed in our new house before hurricane season hit, I never thought I would need one for being froze in.
I have lived in the Gulf Coast Area my entire life and have never seen it like this. We recently moved to Tomball just north of Houston and last night it hit 5 degrees. That’s without the wind chill. The entire State is without electricity.
8 inches of snow. we are lucky we have gas log fireplace. We hung sheets on all of the entrances to the living room, and the place is comfortable enough. I have been shoveling snow into buckets, thawing it on the stove and using it to flush the toilets.
Hopefully by tomorrow it will get above freezing.
The truth is, we are not used to this type of weather in this part of the country. It’s no big deal for people who live in regions and go through it every winter.
I guess it is difficult to prepare for things that you think will never happen.
23kw generac installed with the free transfer switch was $5500 this past summer when my dad did hisMay I know, ballpark, what that cost for you? It cost 16K for the generator and I had a 500 gallon propane tank installed in 2017. Despite also installing a gas range I have not yet used enough propane (generator runs 20 minutes a week) to refill. Propane company is not happy.May I know, ballpark, what that cost for you? ...and don’t forget your toilet bowls and tanks!!!I’d be worried about freezing pipes. If it still warm enough to drain your lines then do it. Use RV antifreeze in drains and P traps
When this ends you Texans need to look into back up generators... Or a portable generator...I’ve been losing power about 3 times a day for about 2hrs at a time for the last 2 days.. I have friends that has been without power for 2days..
