Need help deciding on a coyote gun /22dasher sbr

Ok guys I can’t make my mind up and was hoping some of y’all could give me some advice I’m building a short barrel coyote gun and I want to do a 22 dasher one cause all I need is a 22 cal seating steam and I would have the dies I need Two cause I want somethin with short barrel that still has the speed my question is wat gr bullet and wat twist rate would u run for predator hunting that’s all I’m gonna b doing with it other than some plinking on the side just for fun I would like to stay heavy as I can but still b pushing some speed thanks guys an gals

Ps btw it’s gonna b carbon proof barrel to cut the weight and I have it in a pistol chassis with a brace so length does not matter on the barrel

P.S. Are there no punctuation keys on your keyboard? :)

I use a 22BRA with a 22" 12-twist. I have shot quite a few coyotes with the 52 gr. Berger Varmint. I call them in and most shots are under 100 yards. I shoot for the chest or front shoulder if they happen to be sideways. I have yet to get an exit and they go straight down. I've loaded up some 64 gr. Berger Varmint and some 55 gr. Sierra BK to see how they perform too. I only shot a few with the 64 gr. and none of those exited either. Have yet to shoot one with the 55 gr. BK so no opinion there yet. Before my 22 BRA I shot a 22-250 with 40 gr. V-Max. I did not like those on coyotes. I would have some that would get back up and try to run away. If I had one that would try to circle me and shot through the lungs I would sometimes get a pretty good sized hole with the V-Max. Depends on your circumstances, but for mine I really like the 52-64 gr. weight in a bullet that will grenade inside.

I have a 22 DASHER for Groundhogs with a .025" freebore, I'm shooting 53grn V-Max bullets at 3900+ fps out of a 26" 8-twist barrel. My thinking is to shoot the 53grn bullets and when the barrel throat gets too long for that bullet, shoot the heaver 75grn bullets.
I also have a 6BR setup for coyotes with a 22" long 7-1/2 twist Proof Research carbon barrel. It has a .055" freebore. I have been shooting the 70grn Nosler BT bullets at 3200fps and the Sierra #1515 80grn Biltz Varminter bullets at 3000fps. If I had known back then that Alpha was going to produce 6mm DASHER brass, I would have had it chambered for a DASHER.

I would go 8 twist with a 75 gr bullet with plastic tip. If throated a little short you can also shoot 40 gr V-max as well. Been there and done that, worked great!

Thats funny hope you know him.

The boys on O’Neil Opps run 22-250’s. They have video about their rifle. I think was a carbon wrapped short barrel.

Id look at an 8 twist barrel. This should allow you to shoot 50s up to 80s. The 60TMK from Sierra is a pretty spiffy bullet with a decent G1 that you should be able to push quite fast with a dasher regardless of barrel length.

Barrel length, you mention short. You might poke around at the pistol guys. I think you will like what you see. Some case/cartridges don’t loose much. The BR case has been a solid performer for years in IHMSA.
