Ruger M77 re barrel

Hi guys. I have a Ruger M77MKII in a 22-250 that is going to need a new tube soon. My question is, I want something a little different. Thinking about 22dasher. 22br. And maybe 22-250AI. How do these rounds compare? Looking for barrel life (compared to the 22-250) and bullet speed. I will be shooting 50-60 gr bullets. Mainly as a target, PD, gopher and maybe coyote gun. Thanks!

I have an older version of the same rifle and had it re-barreled with a 12 twist Krieger in 22-250 AI. The velocity with 53-55 grain bullets is right up there with the Swift and accuracy is quite good. If I had it to do over I'd go with a faster twist and longer freebore for heavier bullets. The light bullets shed velocity pretty quickly so the additional speed from the Ackley chamber doesn't really buy me that much. I most likely will get to do it over as the 22-250 AI even with sane loads isn't very barrel friendly. Speed costs money so how fast can you afford to go I guess. Lots of choices between the .222 and the CHeetah. Kind'a like women. They're all fun but the fun lasts longer with some than with others. Of course it only costs a few hundred bucks to replace a barrel.

I'm with Dave on this. As has been mentioned here per Brian L. - twist rate increase will not even be double digits with 2 inches. Go for the option of heavier bullets. Choose a chambering with a longer neck in case you need to cozy up to the lands with the lighter offerings. ;)
