Deleted my FB account

I may be the only voice of dissent here. I use FaceBook to keep in touch with my military folks. FB wasn't the political animal then that it is now. I have somewhere around 400 people that I couldn't really keep in touch with otherwise, and they are an important and irreplaceable part of my life.

It just plain sucks that FB has deteriorated to this point. I will remain a member until something better comes that is reliable and neutral - but that probably won't happen with the extreme polarization that we see lately.

I deleted my FB as well. I have posted pics of some of my rifles, wishing now I wouldn't have.

I guess we all take our chances. But its not looking good...

There are so many ways to stay in touch with family/friends and retain photo's anymore, that Facebook sure can't be missed much, overall.
I actually do most of my contact with friends/relatives directly with email anymore anyway. And some even with Zoom.
Twitter and the others I don't and have never went onto, so with facebook gone, no loss at all.

I logged out of my account two weeks before Christmas. Haven’t been back on since, after watching the linked video on page one I will log back in and delete it. I will miss the machinist for sale forums and a few others but the relief my brain gets from not being on there is worth it.

It was a lot easier than I thought. But......is it really deleted?
there we go- thats what i think. I dont believe when you delete your password so you dont get access, that they delete everything about you. Once you signup for an account thats it they got you. They just keep using your information for their benefit. FBs main thing has always been about getting all the personal info they can about everybody they can. So does it really matter if i delete my login info or just dont use FB- i dont think so.
Thank you so much!!!!!!!

I can honestly say I've watched less than 5 hrs of TV per year for over 15 years. The reason I even count 5 hrs is for the occasions when the TV is on at the hospital or while I'm waiting for someone to get ready to go and they had it on.
I don't miss it even a little bit, but I do spend a fair amount of time on line. But not on any of the big social media platforms.

It only matters if you believe it's ok for someone to make a profit from your "presence" and then use the money(donations to dems) to diminish your rights and fundamentally change the country.

With all of their tracking cookies and advertisements, they can make money off of you without your presence too.
