I’m wondering if there is an easier way to remove firing pin assembly from a Chilean 95 Mauser bolt. The ones I see in online Videos don’t look like the one I have. Only way I’ve been able to do it is hook the sear on something and pull the cocking piece out and turn the shroud. And it don’t come Easy— Thanks

You should be able to close the bolt, cocking the action, then apply the safety to the upright (I think) position, withdraw the bolt & unscrew it.

Thank you - I thought I tried that but I’ll try again - mabie I didn’t get safety to correct position. It does have one of the aftermarket safeties on it.

The bolt needs to be cocked to remove the firing pin. If it is uncocked, just push the cocking piece on the edge of your work table to cock it.

so far ive done that keeping tension on the cocking piece while unscrewing it. mabie i can cock it and that will work better thanks

Hook that cocking piece on a sharp edge somewhere, and pull the cocking piece/firing pin back far enough you can stick a penny between the front of the cocking piece and the bolt shroud. Then unscrew the bolt shroud from the bolt body. Can't believe you guys are turning this into a major thing! "Back in the day" we cut our teeth on Mausers. They were plentiful and and didn't cost much.

There we go- mines got a bent bolt handle in the way but I can still hook the cocking piece. I’ll try it tomorrow— thanks Shortgrass

I've done it with a boot lace, gives me a little more control than edge of bench. Just tie a loop small enough to catch the cocking piece, then shove a penny in there.

After reading this, I have created a patented Chilean Bolt Disassembly Kit consisting of one boot lace. Only $99.95 plus shipping, but you have to provide your own penny. Limited time only.

How about if I offer it in camo?

Seriously, I love it when people come up with simple ways of doing things and freely give tips out as advice. Nice to see people helping others.
