Motorhome-Friendly F-Class Ranges?

To confirm what Catfur said, you are welcome at Capitan Shooting Sports in Capitan, NM. www.capitanhipower.com Next years schedule isn't up and ready yet, but will be within a month. It will be very similar to what is posted. Being in the middle of Lincoln National Forest, there are also many campgrounds and RV parks in the area.

Also nice to know Bill. Thanks for posting

Raton NM has a fantastic campground with outstanding views. Full hookups at a great rate.
Ben Avery in Phoenix AZ has a great campground as well. Not all have full hookups, but you can walk to the 1000 yd line.

Thanks guys - trying to avoid pulling a car if I can...
If the wife does not mind being "limited" as to what she can do while you are having fun I don't blame you. But, if you forget that loaf of bread, or eggs, etc., taking the motorhome to the Kroger parking lot won't be fun, just a PITA. Or consider renting a car when you get where you need to be, lots of RV'rs do this to avoid towing a car.

Yep - thanks!

There are camping areas at Atterbury. Mid range and LR matches every month starting in March usually
There is camping at Atterbury, but you have to be active duty or retired military to use facilities. There is a campground close, but would need a tow vehicle to get to the matches.

Long Range Alley just outside of Shreveport has the space. They have 1000 Sat/ 600 Sunday matches often and every 3rd Sat is 1000yds. I can find out from the M.D. if overnight camping would be allowed.

Great and challenging range, well run matches, covered 1000yd line.
Robin
Are these matches open to sling shooters as well as F class?
Marc MIttry

Yes Marc, usually have 2-3 targets setup for prone. Look at the results archives to get an idea of attendance.
Thanks for the info Robin, I used to live in Louisiana and am considering it as place to relocate from the Peoples Republic of California. I need to find a conservative state that also has active long range high power shooting. The logical choice would be Arizona but I’m afraid it’s turning into SouthEast California. For those worried I do not share the political views that the majority of the California voters that have helped turn this once great state into the mess it is today.

Marc, we have a 600yd range in Donaldsonville that has an active 'sling' group that shoot at the monthly match as well as at Carthage, TX (about an hour from Shreveport) at Panola Rifle and Gun Club. Houston is not far either.

This is all great info --- keep it coming--- lots of folks besides me getting good ideas for places to shoot

Thanks !!!

Another one....possibly...Bar 3 Range in Laurel, MS. 600 and 1000yd ranges with covered firing lines both using the same target line...figure that one out;). They use Hexta targets and it is a great system. I have seen a pull camper parked at the firing line at their State Championship match in 2019. I don't know their policy but the owner, Mike Bush, lives on the property and is a very nice and welcoming fellow sot that is a possibility.

@DE-F-Open

OK John, you are in luck. This is the match director, Ric Clarke's reply:

"Sure is an option at LRA. We have 4 full service RV spaces ($25.00 per night) that are available. He can pull in the day before the match but can’t do any shooting until the match, range rules.

By the way, just found out yesterday morning, we won’t be having any matches until the 3rd week of February. 1000yd range will be closed to all shooting during the month of January due to the natural gas drillers pulling water from the pond on the 1000yd range. They’ll have people on the range 24/7 working with pumps and stuff. Was going to wait until after Christmas before putting the official word out because the closure timeframe is still a little up in the air. I’ll keep y’all informed as I find out more information. Hope you and yours have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

As Always, Stay Safe and Healthy,

Ric"

You will likely be able to dry camp in the parking area at the the 1000yd firing line; the full service spots are not by the firing line from my observations. Hope to meet you out there this year. We do get some low lifes from Arkansas and Texas that you will have to tolerate. However, they shoot OK I guess.:p:p:p

Robin
Robin thanks and great to know from Ric. In the market for one also

I think you will really enjoy your RV. I have taken my RV to Ben Avery 2 times now from Oklahoma 1st time for SW Nationals and another time for Nationals. Nice to have my reloading equipment, food and clothing. If I get tired while traveling I stop and take a nap
It’s also fun to visit with other competitors in camp. Good luck and enjoy your travels.
