Just about out of reloading supplies! Now what?

After about a 10 year break I'm getting back into shooting. Mostly bench rest with the 6PPC's and 6BR's. Hard to get all fired up about this great sport when I can't even buy primers or powder. I now have less than 1000 primers and all my 8lb powder jugs are almost gone. Don't even think about Varget! Haven't found that in about a year and then could only buy 3 one pound containers which are now gone. Thought about a new barrel for a couple of my rifles but what's the use if I can't get components. Now with the new administration coming on it will only get worse. I feel our sport drying up!

Strategies:

  • Get the personal details of everybody on this site who claims that they have 10 years supplies or more, and rob them.
  • Watch for death notices of shooters & offer the widows the opportunity to clear all that nasty explosive stuff out of their house.
  • Buy a set of golf clubs .....

Or Pick Up Archery. You don’t have to anneal arrows or prime, powder, seat bullets. Buy a dozen and shoot until you break or loose them.

There's a lot of trading going on in the classifieds here. I understand your low on powder and primers but you may have something else someone that has what you need may want to trade for. Scopes, dies, rings?

Varget isn't the only powder that shoots well. I've had good luck with other powders.

Become friends with others in the sport. Maybe they will sell, or trade.

Make a list of all the suppliers- local and online, gunshops, etc and visit them often.

I found 3000 CCi450s for 33.00 a thousand last week in a local store. Two months ago bought 16lbs of Varget locally. Just bought 8lbs of H4350 from Midsouth shooters last week. I sold 5K of Federal 210Ms in the last two weeks also.

Maybe some of those with millions of primers and hundreds of pounds of powder will take pity on you and share some with you.

Thanks all for the great tips. The golf does look really good! I won't give up but I've tried every supplier I know of and several smaller mom and pop gun shops with no luck. Like the air gunning comment also. I do have an old Anschutz air rifle so at least I can get my shooting fix. I know there are good powders besides Varget but now I'm almost out of N-135 and my 8208.

some pawn shops that carry a lot of guns may also have the stuff you need. I found most of my stuff at them
