When I was in it wasn't popular to be a soldier due to the bad press about the war in Vietnam. It's nice to see the soldiers of that era recognized also - long overdue.

We didn't escape to Canada or burn our draft cards - we served as best as we could.

Four years regular Army in Vilseck, Germany
Eight years National Guard in Texas.
Three deployments, two in combat zones. All three were thankfully boring.

It was an awesome job.
This was my Battalion Commander getting a one shot hit on a moving target at 1100 meters. Cannon T90 film camera with cable release, so I could open the shutter when I heard the tank commander give a fire command. I loved that job so much, I would go to other battalion’s live fire and ride with the range safety officers just to watch. Total armor nerd.
