Good catch @B23..........I missed that......looks like @Tommie had it right from the get go too.I just realized the OP is asking for 22 VTT load data not 20 VTT which is Todd's 20 call version based off of the 222 parent case. Soon as I read VarTarg Turbo I automatically assumed 20 VTT which is a near twin to the 20-222. Sorry about that.
RonS, if what you have truly is a 22 VTT that would pretty much be equal to the straight 222 and that load date should be a good place to start.
No the VTT uses the 222 as its parent case but TK does his push the shoulder back to lengthen the neck and squares the shoulder off from 23 to a 30 degrees. Kinda like his VT the VTT really has no case capacity advantage over its parent case just retains the neck length but with a 30 instead of 23 degree shoulder.sooooooo
VT Turbo on a 221 FB case....Improved ?
I can't speak to the others, but the 20VT has hornady dies available for $40, so that is in fact cheaper than a 221 Bushing die with a smaller bushing if you're really trying to keep costs under control. I don't have to trim my 20VT - the brass just doesn't grow. That hasn't been my experience with 23 degree shoulder case designs, which have all needed very regular trimming. That's really the advantage you're getting with the Vartargs.I'm sure this will piss all of the TD fan boys off but for me, I see zero advantage to the 20 VT over the 20-221 or the 20 VTT over the 20-222 except it costing more for dies and spending more time on brass prep and or fireforming for no advantage but that's just my opinion.
I will say, the 20 VT, 20 VTT, 20 Tactical all have cooler names than 20-222, 20-222, and 20-223 so maybe that has something to do with it.
Suggesting that the 22VTT has more capacity than a 222 and using 222 data and working up would probably yield safe results, much like when working with an Ackley Improved design. As suggested, calling Todd would probably get you better information than our speculation here.... have the accuracy proven 30 degree shoulder ... the 20, 22, and 6mm VarTarg Turbo have a shorter neck than the original 222.
