Best hunting boots you have owned

My all time favorites are the old-school Irish Setter with the moc-toe and crepe soles, they are very quiet and comfortable in the woods. I have worn this model for over 40 years.

Just looked at a pair, made in Vietnam

I guess by know we can all agree, everyones` feet like a different boot. I`ve had alot over the years Danner was the best for my comfort. But even their new stuff doen`t feel the same. I think the military has wised up for the choices in field combat boots. Not like the old black boots that one style and shut your mouth. Good luck muleman69 finding that right pair. They will make the difference between enjoyment and agony. Jeff

I have an older pair of danners and really like the airbob soles, the only problem is keeping the soles on.

muleman, I have a pair of Danner Raptors circa 1998. Still going. Very similar to their Elk Hunter boot. I think the airbob sole is the key to comfort. Alot of boot makers use it or something close. The good news is the Elk Hunter is made in USA @ Danner.Only available from them. Good luck,I`m sure you know if your feet aren`t happy your not. Jeff

What other companys make the BOB sole?

I have a pair of danner santiums with the bob sole. I sent them back to get them re-soled. Another reason I prefer Norwegian welted boots. The only drawback to that sole is it doesn't last as long as others. I try to stay off concrete when wearing them. They sure are comfy.
The Zamberlan tofane boot has what I believe to be the perfect blend of traction, comfort and durability in a sole. I understand vibram makes different composition rubber for different manufacturers. I don't think vibram makes danners bob soles tho.

Check out Peter Limmer custom made boots in New England area. I think his family offers stock boots of high quality out of Germany.

Any recommendations for those with narrow feet? I think 90% of what's been mentioned are all for wider feet.

The tofane fits me fine and I do not have a wide foot. I bought the sella's to wear extra socks.

Speaking of socks, everybody should know about merino wool socks! Best money I ever spent.

Peter limmer makes boots specific to your foot. You have to send him an outline on paper and then I think you have option to go for a final fitting before he finishes.

Speaking of socks, everybody should know about (merino wool) darn tough socks! Best money I ever spent. Might not be great if you have big calves tho. lil tight.

Good socks are nearly as important as good boots.
Kuiu makes some great hiking socks. Padding in all the right places makes them very comfortable. Not cheap, but worth it in my opinion

Zamberlan 1023 Latemar NW with leather lining instead of gortex. The boots stay cooler. Hardly any break in period. They fit like a glove and have a Vibram NorTrack sole for good traction and comfort.

Spot on with the socks, good socks and CLEAN socks

just check the manufacturers. Most high end boot makers offer them in “EE” for narrow feet. I have a narrow foot as well and I’ve never had an issue finding a high end boot that fits right. It’s usually the guys with really wide feet that have the issues
I think in shoe size, EE is very wide. A or B would be narrow. D width is the most common.

Cabela's used to carry the Perfekt Hunter boot made by Meindel. Those are by far and away the best pair of boots I've ever owned. The cork foot bed is ingenious as it molds perfectly to the individual user. Awesome comfort that you'd be hard pressed to beat even if you were wearing hiking boots. Speed lace system with locks that actually work. Never a single gore-tex leak. As all things Cabela's this boot passed away once BPS took over the operation. I was lucky enough to grab another pair prior to the boot being discontinued. If interested, Meindel still makes a comparable model with the cork foot bed in their comfort fit line. Highly recommend Meindel boots.

So are the boots from meindlusa the originals ? My friend just bought a pair out of Canada that he claims are the same as what we use to buy before cabelas/BPS screwed them up
