transporting an F-T/R rifle in a Jeep TJ

I have an F-T/R rifle with a 30 inch barrel. I might have to carry it in my 2005 Jeep Wrangler from time to time. Do any of you face the same situation? I think I can lay the front passenger seat down and carry it on that seat, but I wonder if there is a better way. Thanks in advance.

On my TJ I remove the back seat and lay my rifles across the back

In my chevy spark i have to go diagonally from the backseat floor on one side to high and rearward on the other side.

You can hang it from the roll bar & windshield frame out of the way on the passenger side. I remember seeing hanger kits for sale when I had my TJ.

I like the idea of hanging it from the roll bar. I had not thought of that. I will definitely check into the soft case. Thanks a bunch.

Had a friend selected a company car on the basis that his gun case fitted in the trunk.

Any help?
I have a pickup truck also. This is Oklahoma after all. My wife likes to borrow it from time to time and I'm trying to plan ahead. Thanks for the help.

My 2000 TJ was my DD until just 2 weeks ago (262k miles) and went to almost 100 rifle matches. I used a soft case and with just a little manipulation, put the rifle between the passenger seat cushion and door such that it was secured in place with the lower portion of the seat belt. Putting it there also kept it out of direct vision.

I was never a big fan of hanging items from the roll bar. Even with a sudden stop, things can easily start to fly around at head/neck level.

Greetings,
If it is a chassis stocked rifle, put it in the farm jack mount. No one will notice the difference.

Mine have been bouncing around in my jeeps for years, i try to use a soft case larger than the rifle with one of those foam toy tubes cut to pieces that fit over the scope, parts of the barrel and wherever on the stock i may need it, etc.
I do crawl over boulders from time to time and so far so good.

This is how I did it this summer. 30” barrel in zr kestros. Seb neo on front passenger floor. Rangebag behind driver on floor. Ran with doors off..

I built this 4 gun rack for the back of my LJ. I bet it would fit just fine in a TJ with the rear seat down. I know a 30” barreled shotgun fits fine as well as my rifles with suppressors attached. The racks are built to tilt to suit your needs

Gun Rack (2).jpg Here's what i did, Cheap and simple. I use a bungee strap over the top of the rifles right behind the bolt with a tensioner in the middle. I can load a lot of stuff in with it being on a shelf

You guys are full of great ideas. Judging by how many windshields I had to replace I won't try the roof turret. :)

Wrap each gun in heavy shipping blankets. Never a scratch even using a common carrier with a driver that was a shooter. I few extra $ couldn’t hurt.
