Are the bullets Scenars ?

Started with Scenars. He uses 155 ELDs now.
I'll throw in on this thread as I'm a big 308 fan. It has been my go to cartridge most of life shooting and loading. I've been fortunate to have been off for labor day to load up some more loads to try out in my gas gun. It's just hard to beat it when it comes to bang for your buck.
I'm currently loading some lighter loads with 125gr Pro Hunters. Working up a ladder of 5rds each, 43.0gr, 43.5gr and 44.0gr of IMR4895, 1x fired PPU Match brass and Win WLR Primers. If I can get them all loaded up I'm hoping to get out and shoot them today before the sun goes down.

What always seemed odd to me was the gun writers of old that would make that statement had more than 1 rifle.
At one point years ago, I did exactly what that phrase meant. Sure I had and always have had several rifles. At that point I built a 6.5-284 and used it for everything. Shot groundhogs all summer long. Coyotes all winter. When fall came along, I had the drop data and wind doped so well that everything seemed like a chip shot. Then came all the newer cartridges that got my attention and need to have that it changed so every year I have a new rifle to hunt with. I believe the phrase "Beware if the man with only one rifle" has real meaning. It did for me. Don't think that phrase was a literal one. For me it wasn't as I always have had several rifles but I relied on just one for a few years. Made a real difference.
The .308 (a very specific one) can shoot inside Berger 184 Hybrids at 2,850 FPS, at 1,000 yards. I have rounds that will exceed the 2,400 FPS that is already inside the Bergers, and 48 grains of stable 4350 will significantly exceed that velocity.
Compare to .284 or a Shehane.

Right, yes the the A-Tip. It is is the highest BC bullet, to my knowledge, in all of F-Class, even higher than the 300 grain .338 A-Tip, which, in .338 LM is now my planned Long Range cartridge for 1k.
Here’s one loaded over 48.0 grains of powder.
The .308 combo is presently more of a thought experiment playing out. What I can say so far is that the round needs CCI 41 mil-spec primers, an 8 twist and a unique chamber.

I shot a M70 Win in 308 "across-the-course" and long-range for years. Back when I was serious, I had a 8.5" twist Obermeyer (28") on it, which shot Sierra 168 gr and 200 gr MK amazingly well. I shot it a lot at 1K yards and did reasonably well for my talent. I had to change barrels and couldn't get anything but an 11" twist Obermeyer (28") at the time. It shot both 155 Palmas and 185 Berger VLD, just great! Today I shoot a 243 Win and 6.5 CM, but I am old and recoil is an issue. But there is absolutely nothing at all wrong with a 308, even in the age of the Creedmoor.
Holy Shhhh !!! That's no cartridge. That's a mortar round. How's recoil with that 250 from the .308 ??? Have to ask
The recoil and torque would be seem to be significantly increased because of the bullet weight and faster twist but if they are, it is not by much. At least it doesn’t feel that way. I am testing these with the Harris swivel bipod prone and slightly “loaded” from concrete, with the feet buffered by a folded towel. The bullets have produced some very flat groups at 600 even with resilient primers I hadn’t assumed to be match spec.
I think this powder and bullet weight combine for relatively slow bullet acceleration, and a pressure curve with a flatter peak. I don’t shoot a black powder rifle, but that’s kind of the direction this .308 combination would be moving relative to say 200 Hybrids and 44.5 grains of Varget.
I just shoot 100-300 yards and lots of fun plinking, and don't get real serious about it. I shoot several calibers but mostly 223 and 308. 308 is so easy to load, from 1,200 fps plated Berry's on up. Accuracy is easy to get and the barrels should last a long time. Plus, my 308's are easy to clean up. Carbon and copper fouling is light and easy to manage. I like that 30 cal holes in the paper are easy to see without much scope power.
Robert, for shooting 100-300 yds. as you are doing the 223 & 308 is perfect. I shoot 6.5 also but for your application it would give
you nothing except less recoil, but the 308 isn't bad at all.
