Midway Back Orders

I am not a big supporter of Midways USA but I do read all the banners which are now found at the top of every firearms related website before I place an order. I have stopped placing orders where they call for accepting 4 days to 6 weeks delay in delivery time. Some operations state only short delays of a few days which I will order from. From Midway:

Important message regarding estimated delivery dates and communications with MidwayUSA
Because of the COVID-19 Pandemic, internet commerce is at an all-time high, creating unprecedented levels of MidwayUSA orders and residential deliveries for our package delivery partners. This is creating some challenges which are keeping us from serving Customers the way we want and you deserve. For this, we are truly sorry.

  1. While we've projected estimated delivery dates as accurately as possible, please note there may be delays from our package delivery partners as they're experiencing large volumes and Employee shortages. If your order takes longer than expected, we’re very sorry and appreciate your patience in allowing a few extra days before contacting us.
  2. We're hiring as fast as we can and doing our best to respond to Customers as quickly as possible, but our incoming communications exceed our capacity. Regrettably, we’ve had to temporarily stop taking phone calls, and even web chats at times, and still can't process all our communications fast enough. We’re several days behind in answering emails, and experiencing long wait times when web chat is enabled. We have all available Employees, regardless of their position in the company, helping ship packages and respond to Customers. Rest assured, you will get your order and we'll respond to your communications as fast as we can. We’re working on resuming phone calls and web chats as soon as possible.
We're very sorry for the package delays and communication issues. Thanks so much for your patience, understanding and loyalty.

Many of the banners I've read ask you NOT to call or even e-mail because it ties up personnel who could be helping with packaging and shipping.

The last order I made from Midway 3 weeks ago, they stated that the products were in stock and would ship the next day via UPS (no free shipping for me). I got the shipping notice early AM the next day and received the order 4 days later. I was relieved since I had read all the horror stories so prevalent on the internet these days.:(

I can't imagine ordering products and being expected to wait weeks or months to receive them, even if my card wasn't charged right away. There just isn't anything I need that bad.:)

I also can't imagine a small company hiring and staffing up for a short term explosion of demand from the firearms industry. If you've never actually run a small business you won't understand. Most of us small folks will work longer hours or even weekends to avoid the hassle of staffing up. This applies mostly to those small businesses, not the massive warehouse distributors and chain stores.

In the long run though, you have to decide what is most important to your supply needs. The wait for shipping to catch up, backordering to get what you think you have to have without fail, or simply deciding to wait for the meltdown to subside.;)

Best of luck however you decide!:D
I am not dumping on them---just not happy with how it is being handled in the now...

Understood.

We're all champing at the bit to get some reloading and shooting done before the storm. :(

Some suppliers are actually making a good go of it while others seemingly are overwhelmed to the point of nearly giving up and taking more time.

I'm excited to see the members here asking for help with specific needs and other members responding with that help. It makes for a great community as a whole!:D

Thanks to the Forum Boss for the opportunity!

Followup. Kelly, from Midway, contacted me and said she would look into it. Not a "canned" response. She e mailed the appropriate department. I will keep you informed.

I have had a Forster f l die on order from them since July 30. They give a "canned" response when you send an inquiry regarding your order. Chat is almost never available. Guess I will try a phone call but want to make sure I set aside a long period of time. I believe the back order says that this can not be cancelled.

Anyone else have this issue?
Not with Midway, it was a Forster die ordered through Brownells. I waited 4+ months for a Forster 6.5 Grendel FL sizer die. After the extended wait the order was cancelled and changed it to a Redding FL die. The downside was the cost of the Redding was about 50% more than the Forster.

I've placed 2 orders with Midway in the last 2 weeks. Both arrived really quickly; quicker than years past. I generally prefer Brownells, but Midway has been great lately in my experience.

I just called (800) 243-3220, it works, but they are experiencing higher than usual call volume, please stay on the line and some time before the earth completely cools, someone will be with you.

I also looked them up in the Missouri Secretary of States website. Only addresses and names, no phone numbers for the company.
Thanks! I could remember the 3220 but not the prefix

In my experience the service and delivery from midway and Amazon have been surprisingly fast....now back orders, special order are a different matter...

I’m in the process of experiencing my first disappointment after years of dealing with Midway. Mine is a shipping issue. It looks like it was lost in a handoff from UPS to USPS. UPS shows that it was handed off and USPS doesn’t show that it was ever received.

That’s not MidwayUSA’s fault. How is Midway proposing to fix the problem?

I agree, it’s definitely not Midway’s fault and I didn’t mean to imply that they were to blame. Just saying that after many orders over the last several years it’s the first time that I’ve had any kind of issue.

The shipment went out 15 days ago and last night was the first time that I bothered to track it. I have them on my list to call today in between zoom meetings. I’m honestly not sure what to expect from them.

I have noticed numerous dealers and sellers are posting that shipping, sales, etc. can be slower in todays present condition with the Corona Virus and all. so why is it a surprise that MidwayUSA is not also advising customers of this ? If I used the same logic, then I guess I would stop buying from more than just MidwayUSA, but I just roll with the flow and don't get too excited about their warnings.. But at the same time, I have had no issues with buying from anyone, so far. Maybe I have been fortunate or I just am old enough to not worry about little things.

I see your point.

Midway now says that they are waiting for the die from Forster. I called Forster and am waiting for a call back to see how long it would be to get the die directly from them.
