Recommended Smiths for Fitting Barrels?

There are many competent smiths and I am sure that the ones listed above will fill your needs. Here are a few more to add to your list: Billy Stevens (KY), Dave Bruno (PA), Dave Tooley (NC), Wayne Campbell (VA), Mike Ezell (KY), and Jim Borden (PA).

Zack Donovant @ Old Dominion Custom Rifles. One custom build and one rebarrel, both were excellent workmanship and very accurate. In process of building another, also very quick turnover.

Dana english english rifles tack driving rifles has built me 8 rifles hunting to bench rifles all are first rate.

All of the guys listed are competent. In my humble opinion, expecting any Smith with a good, solid, reliable reputation to turn around your work in a couple weeks is insane. This means I have to be a competent customer and plan ahead. My f-class and short range b.r. components are already waiting in queue for next year. Poor planning on my part doesn’t constitute an emergency on his part.
I also want a Smith who has a very good working relationship with others in the industry and is able to network. The best smiths are able to work with others.
I’d also like to add that when you tell everyone about your secret fishing hole, don’t be surprised when you have to wait in line to fish.

I don't mind waiting for quality work. If he says 3 months, that's fine. I don't like being told it will be done in X amount of time
and it suddenly becomes 2x that. I also plan out ahead with all the extras. The smith is my
only wildcard. Chambering doesn't require special planning or ordering on their part. They get the barrel and do what they do.
Someone's word should still mean something.

I have a man that knocks my stuff out in NOTHING FLAT.
Does EXCELLENT work and doesn't charge me an arm and a leg.
I send my stuff to him, don't question the cost, sit back and am surprised when it shows up. He's kinda like a "secret fishing hole". ;):cool:
If I mention his name, he won't be a secret anymore.;)

One thing I have noticed as that many of the really good smiths have the craftsman/artist type demeanor, and they don't do their best work on a rigid schedule.

I guess no one thought of asking the OP what barrel he is doing I did an the barrel he has will have contact on the inner shoulder in which that's the way CZ-527 are designed to be I don't much care for that but if the outside diameter of barrel would be about 1.100 you could shoulder to outside receiver ring.20200916_085943-1.jpg
