Magnum versus NonMagnum Primers

Inquiring if anyone has experience with using non-magnum primers with 6BR ammo? That may become the only primers available once my current inventory of CCI 450s is depleted.

I don't know about the 6BR but I've been using Rem 9-1/2M in my 243 Win for some time, with good success. One pic doesn't mean much but here you go.

Anything else is just opinions that may are may not be the same as actual results from your barrel.It also depends on your type off shooting. What may give you the smallest 100 groups may have a big ES and not work so well at 1000, or it may. Your targets from your barrel will tell you is my point. Not what others have done.Test, test, test.

I've shot for many years as well. Many many 6BR'S and 6.5 x47's...all shot best with 450. PPC's always liked 205 and wolf primers. Different barrel makers and twist....JEFFPPC is correct...go test! Many good primers!

You may want to give the Winchester USA Ready SR match primers a try. They seem to be working well for me in the small tests I've done with my 6mm BR.

Thanks for the replies! Should I run out of CCI 450 primers, and be forced to use non-magnum primers, I’ll share the results.

We use mostly either BR-4 or GM205M a lot with the 6br. Only time I've ever used 450's was with some 8208 on a load. YMMV. WD

I shot CCI 450's in the Dasher with RL-15 and it worked well but not so with H4895 in the Br. Imp. 205 's and with H4350 the 205's were great producing groups smaller than I shot with a PPC. If anyone wants to trade some Fed GM's for CCI 450's I will be glade to..... jim
