Primers?

;)
yeh yeh, you probably think you have all the Varget too but I got a jump on that. Didn’t think about primers. Next time they come available I’ll get plenty. Even if I have to use my wife’s credit card.
Now that is funny!

I shouldn't need to buy primers for years but when I see them available I usually buy some

Amazing how things change in a year. Last year at this time Federal/CCI were offering 20% rebates on primers up to a total rebate of $100. $118 per 5000 didn’t seem like a bad price to me. I am set for the drought!

Years ago during the big Depression my Gramma learned to be frugal and prepared. She was never caught short again. Me? I been through at least two component droughts. I learned the same lesson. I have at least 5k primers in both large and small rifle held in reserve. I probly have at least that many that I draw from for reloading. During fat times I buy a few even though I don't need em. If I see em at a good price or on sale I buy a few thousand.. Same with bullets and powders. I also have probly 10k 22 LR 's on hand and 5k in reserve. Now is not the time to be stockin up.

I also have ten gallons of 5.56 range brass on hand, just in case.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me.

Look at your 401K, what’s a better investment. I’d take bullets, powder, and primers. Be respectful of others though. Even if the current administration stays in place, hoarding shortages will last into early summer of 2021.

After 2008 I started stocking up. I probably have enough for now, but went ahead and picked up 2k of
Rem 7 1/2 just to make sure. A few sections of the primer shelves at my LGS were picked over but not enough to make it look like any buying panic was happening. They had plenty of powder too.

Too bad everyone doesn't think like this. I see posts on fb and ig of folks bragging about wiping out some place of powder and primers.

You must have a one of those Salvage 401(k)’s.

Wait until you turn 70 1/2 and start paying tax on your 401K, then tell me about it.

Preparedness is simple, the only limitation is availabilty and money . I buy every time I see something I may need in the future, I let the cash in my pocket dictate what comes home with me . So when I see people throwing the "hoarder" crap around I just shake my head, that big pile of primers stays about the same all the time....has for many years . Sitting here with enough supplies to last for years does not make me feel guilty at all . I don't buy during shortages, a smart squirrel gathers it's food before winter. Heck, I still have barrels of water I sealed back in 1998 .

Where are they. What happened? Small rifle BR or Magnum.
Someone said they were in short supply, so now they are in short supply!

My local reloading shop has decent inventory but limits of 1000 primers per customer per visit. Annoying but understandable.

Cause effect, effect cause, same difference.

This morning I was going through my supplies and I found a full case of 7 1/2’s that I’d sealed up in food-saver vacuum bags. - Dated 2014.
Needless to say it made my day. - I knew I had them, but had trouble finding where I’d put them.
I was told by a shop owner that this supposed shortage is because the Dept. of homeland security ordered 28 million small rifle primers and other sizes as well. - Any truth to this ?

Last shortage the excuse was some gov'mnt agency buying up all the stuff, 22's etc and Federal filling a huge miltary order. Who knows..
