6BRA load data

Finding xbr load around 31.0 with 105 hybrid. Running 2901 at 68 deg. 26" barrel. Shot well from 30.2-31.4. .070" off got a 5 shot 1" group at 560 yards. I don't shoot aggregates or Bench. I am looking for 1/2 moa 1000 yard load.

The current lot of 103 vapor trails Tommy is making right now shot this 1.9 in spite of me driving the gun at Deep creek last weekend with 30.98 grains of H4895 and a br4.20200808_081954.jpg

I had four one pound cans of H4895 and all from different lots. As finicky as it seems I decided to just pour it all into an empty 8 pound bottle and shake it really well. My first attempts at BRA were Gungnirs and 30.7 H4895 and it was just way over pressure. The numbers I had picked up from others shooting the BRA were anywhere from 30.9 to just over 31 grains but my powder along with the Gungnir's larger bearing surface I just was lost. Then I backed down to 30.3 and recorded 34 shots during our club match to get a benchmark for velocity, ES and SD. Those numbers told me, while ES and SD were very good single-digit, that my load was still out of the known accuracy node. This past weekend I dropped to 30.1 and it all seemed to fall into place. Targets 3 & 4 of LG (we shoot at 520 yards) were a 1.140 and a 1.450. There has to be a powder out there that will perform at this same level without be schizophrenia as H4895!
But, then again, no way it would be in stock anywhere!:mad:

the loads that I shot at Deep Creek a few years ago with 4895 and 8208 are .5 to .9gr hotter than what I’ve settled on here in TX. Be it altitude, humidity... IDK. It’s not the heat, as it was super hot when I was in MT, too. Most southerners I know have success in the BRA low node.

Give XBR 8208 a try if you can find it.

Has anyone tried VV N-540 in there BRA with 103 VT's? Just curious since H-4895 seems to be unavailable and I have quite a bit of N-540.

I have had good luck with Barts Gunguirs and 31.1 of H4895 in the Br Imp.and I also had luck with a lot of H4350. I could never get it to shoot in a Dasher but it shoots some of the smallest groups I ever shot with anything and with two different barrels.... jim

I have not but it looks like it will work well. Its a little slower so you may start at 31 and go up. Quick load shows a max a little over 32.

Thanks Alex, I ran it through QL with my data and came up with the same figures. Looks like it should work, I'll have to do some testing. Thank!..............Chuck

JIm, I have an 8 pounder of H4350 but never tried that, thought it would be to slow. Looks like I have some experimenting to do when the season is over in September. :)

I used 540 in the 6BR. Tuned in FL shot fabulous in FL at 600. Went to Sacramento for the Nats and it shot GOD awful. It was really embarrassing. I also talked to the Coach of the US F Class team, Dale Carpenter (I think) He told me they has a similar experience some years back. YMMV.

Tuned up a fresh barrel today, new lot of h4895. 7086. 103 vapor trail automated bullet. .005 in. 30.8.
Alex,
I am struggling with these automated bullets, in 3 rifles I am getting mediocre groups groups, BRA’s and a strait BR. Granted I am in F class shooter, so if I get 5/8 to 3/4 at 300 yards I’m pleased. I am struggling to get these below 1-3/8”. Any ideas? Thanks Shawn

What kinds of seating depths and powders/charges? Even good bullets may not shoot in every barrel, a bunch of deep creek guys are using the v-tacs with success. If a different bullet will shoot smaller dont fight it.
