6.5 creedmoor brass

So with the primer shortage going on I think I’ll get some large rifle primer brass. I’ve got lots of Lapua small primer brass and lots of large rifle primers. Suggestions?

if i was buying new 6.5 creedmoor brass i would probably go with the peterson brass.... i use it in 3 other carts and couldnt be happier with it..

I bought 2 boxes of the Peterson 6.5 Creedmoor SRP about 6 weeks ago. All of it was 98% precise like neck thickness within .0005 to .001 variance. Inside neck dia. .262 . Plus I finally split a neck on my .308 SRP after 50 reloads. and I do anneal. This is by far the best brass that I have ever used in the last 25 years of reloading.

I'm a big fan of the Alpha 6.5 CM LRP brass. Never shot the Peterson brass or Lapua versions of 6.5CM. I would imagine they're close to the same.

Some of my Alpha 6.5 stuff probably has close to 30+ reloads on it, and the pockets are still fine.

Like Mike said of the Peterson stuff, Alpha is about that consistent. I turned my most recent batch, but it really wasn't necessary.

I think it'd be hard to go wrong with either.

Buy some Hornady American Gunner and shoot steel with it, reload the brass to your liking.

My gun likes this stuff. The hornady brass is more than adequate for banging steel.

That said, I'm buying Petersen srp for some quality brass for my 243.

With LRP brass I think the only certainty I’ll say is stay away from Winchester brass. It’s awful in terms of consistency.

Starline seems good for LRP brass. I’ve had luck with both it and Hornady.

Starline brass for me.

I have been reloading 200 cases for over 3 years now and had 3 neck split over this time period.

Peterson seems to get the nod. Thanx guys. Cheers.

mike,
Did you see any advantages or disadvantages in either srp or lrp brass?... I just built a 6 creedmoor, I have 200 Lapua srp and 200 Hornady lrp thinking about buying some Peterson or star line. I have lots n lots of primers just want best results

Main reason I’m using the large pockets is because I have lots of large magnum primers. Hoping to get the es/sd down. So far 20 shots ES 19 SD 6.

According to Peterson they produce all their brass with smaller primer pockets. Must be true because I have not had any of mine get loose. I use CCI BR4 primers.
