Thanks for the explanation Alex—- I was planning on making my own Mandrals by measuring the sizes I need with the pin gauges. Even if I have a shop do them for me I need a way to measure and decide what sizes to order.A full length mandrel is the best way to find center of an imperfect hole. The bushing setup will only find center between those two points. I struggled with the Manson and PTG setups until I finally had 12" ground and hardened rods made up in .0005" increments by JGS. The largest that passes through the bore without forcing it will find true center of the warped and tapered bore. And you will get excellent lug contact after truing without the bolt biasing to one side.
Thanks Kohler — that looks like what I need..702 .7025 .703 .7035 .704 .7045 .705. Having two of each is nice if you can swing it.
Thanks Dusty I’ll look in the catalog and see what they have.Since theyre usually different sizes front and rear i use the bushings from mansons kit to find the sizes
I'll check tomorrow on what sizes I have and give you a range. I also have them for Bats at .720 +/-. They were not cheap but they are excellent. Thanks for the explanation Alex—- I was planning on making my own Mandrals by measuring the sizes I need with the pin gauges. Ok I’ll look around. That’s quite a range ThanksMine are .7005 to .7055 in .0005 inc. for remingtons. That even covers the reamed raceways
You could get by with .001 increments. I didnt know when i got themOk I’ll look around. That’s quite a range Thanks
Ok- I wasn’t quite thinking right. That’s only 5 thou range. ThanksYou could get by with .001 increments. I didnt know when i got them
Thanks much Alex- that’s great info— I thought I remembered you advertising them..701-.703 .0005 increments. I used to sell the set. JGS made them for me and my spec was.0002 for taper and diameter. My .7015 and .702 are the most used.

Ok I read this again a few times cause I was actually thinking of making a mandral with different diameters at each end if the ends were different. You are telling me though that a single diameter mandral will be best though right? It just seems to me that depending how the mandral is attached to the action the large action diameter would flop around a little (for lack of a better way to put it). Of coarse I know it helps we areA full length mandrel is the best way to find center of an imperfect hole. The bushing setup will only find center between those two points. how do i contact themDitto. I don't care about half-thou in a boltway, to each their own
I buy all my pin gauges from Meyer.
