Best carrier to ship firearms

For all you guys shipping firearms regularly and currently, who’s the best? I’ve had great luck shipping other stuff with USPS, but want to know the best for TODAY’s climate.

USPS is very easy on long guns

I sold my Annealeez machine on this forum and the USPS wanted $50 for one shipping method and $62 for the other I shipped it with UPS for $24. I can’t imagine what the Postal Service would want to ship my rifle with the appropriate amount of insurance I need To keep both arms and both legs

If you are going a long way for an event, flying with a cased gun is doable but it is PITA....don’t show up at a major airport unprepared.
Done flying with a gun,
Ben

only place for UPS shipping i can use in my town is the UPS Store.. their shipping rates are twice what the UPS rates are as you figure it on the UPS site..

I couldn't agree more whole-heartedly. Being prepared to fly with a rifle takes work and preparation by knowing the rule of your particular airline and the law. Here is a very good thread which covers this thoroughly:

I fly frequently with competition rifles without any problems ever so long as I know the rule and stay within the law. It does get to be a little humorous when there are 12-15 guys standing in the same line all pulling rifle cases...:D

If you go through an FFL, handguns are fine w/USPS. Personally it was always worth it to me for the peace of mind that it was aboveboard to pay the FFL and book it where it had a history

BE VERY CAREFUL shipping with USPS right now, as they appear to be having a lot more problems during the COVID crisis. I purchased a gun from a gold member here, and the USPS completely lost it for about two months, told us it was just gone, and then it showed up out of the blue about 2 months after it was shipped. It was a super stressful experience, and the tracking simply sucked. IF you ship USPS, make sure you purchase the insurance for the full amount, otherwise the "tracking" you thought you paid for is absolutely worthless. They will tell you it went to facility X along the way a month ago, but they have no idea what happened to your missing gun after that. UPS and FedEx at least have decent tracking.
