Remington 40X .222

Was over a friend's house the other day doing some work to my Savage FClass rifle cause he has an awesome shop built in his garage from being a retired Body Shop owner and race car driver.

Well anyway, he rolls into the shop (hes in a wheelchair from a car wreck) with this Remington 40X chambered in .222 and says could you use this. UUMMM.... YEA!!!
Here, its IT'S YOURS.

Now I have this beautiful 40X with a few rust spots and the crown needs some fixing, No biggie.
But my dilemma is, should I keep it in .222 or try and have it rechambered into .223?
Are there any .222 advantages over .223?

I want to keep the original barrel on if I can as its pre drilled and tapped for front iron sights that I might actually try and use instead of a scope.

I'm with the others, keep a 222. If you're looking for a powder to use, H322 and the triple deuce make for a love affair like no other. I have the 20 cal version, 20-222, and it is such an absolute dream to shoot.

“Are there any .222 advantages over .223?”

yeah, it’s a little easier to shoot bugholes with the 222.

this is 5 shots @ 100 yds from a 40XBR

Like most are saying, keep it as a 222. I recently got my 222 together and it's really fun to shoot with the light recoil. It's nice to have something a bit uncommon. As for accuracy, it's a toss up between my 14 twist 222 and 14 twist 223.
