What profile for vudoo

I had to correct my comments as my first Vudoo wears a 20" Kukri and no the 18" I was relating.
It may just seem it to me but I think I actually lose velocity more at longer (past 200 yards) with the 22" barrel.

I’ve seen a few people saying they loose velocity on a longer barrel.

My 20" Kukri has a TT Diamond and I love it. It wears a Bergara stock with adjustable cheekpiece and a Hawkins M5 bottom metal. I am happy with it considering I paid right at $300 for it. But I did have to have that speckle look covered with a good coat of Ceracoat.
Went with a Jewell (with safety) on the 22" to save a few $. The 22" is in a KRG Bravo and, although stock feel is subjective, I think you'll like one.

awesome! I have 2 diamonds and 2 jewels and I prefer the diamonds personally. Both great triggers though

well Myself and my shooting partner are putting two builds together with similar parts and he was going try the krg whiskey while I give the mpa comp a try and he has since changed his mind to mdt acc I believe. I’ve been super curious between the krg and mpa so I flipped a coin and ended up with the mpa. If it wasn’t for finishing up this current build and my first baby on the way id probably try a whiskey on the vudoo but can’t justify the price right now. So it’s either bravo or x ray as the x ray is regular 900 in Canada and on sale for same price as bravo (525-535ish).

I don't see where anyone, including myself, mentioned to the OP that he should call Vudoo and talk to Paul or Greg about barrel profile and length. They will ask questions and guide you in your choices. Greg is their sales guy and he told me he shoots an 18" Kukri. Also confirmed the opinions here that for this gun, 18 or 20 is the optimum performer. Ordering with Vudoo is just another positive part of the process.

Have run a 18" Kukri for my match Vudoo rifle since Sept of 2017 and it's never held me back. Super accurate and a good balance. I wouldn't go with an MTU but some like them.

Well you are correct and that is a huge oversight on my part! I bought my first Vudoo used. It turned out to be an early gun and had some little nagging issues on ejection. I spoke to Paul and he was just fantastic. They paid the shipping to and from them, did all the upgrades and returned it to me in less than 10 days. Jill was also great at keeping me up to speed on everything going on during the time too.
My second Vudoo I wanted something other than the standard I saw for sale. I worked with Greg to get it ordered and he was spot on in everything he had to offer. No sales pitch at all, just great questions, answers and service. I've also had occasion to talk with Mike and he was the same way. They all care about their customers!

I have Kurki profiles on mine.

I much prefer 16 inch barrels because I do a lot of positional shooting. I want that bullet out of the barrel as soon as I can so I dont screw up the shot even more.

thank you! I called and didn’t get through so I sent an email off and they got back to me rather quickly! They said the kukri seems to be the more popular for positional shooting like prs style or nrl 22 where as mtu is more popular for just bench. 18-20 seems to be the most popular and that for what I’m looking at the 20” kukri would work very well

Showing my considerable ignorance I request...

Any pictures/diagrams showing the profiles of each with measurements to allow comparisons?

Looking at getting a vudoo 22 and not sure weather to go for mtu or Kukri. Right now I can get a Kukri 20 or 22” for 2499 but I’d have to order an mtu and it would most likely be a few months and 2700-2850 ish due to the new dollar! Curious if it’s worth the extra dough and wait time to get into an 18” mtu or grab the 20” Kukri!

rifle will be used 90% for plinking/target and fun. But with 22 comps just starting to make a break in Canada I will try my luck there with the rifle too, but with a new baby on the way, and a busy work schedule it will mainly be for target/fun
Ive got a 22"Bartlein MTU in a Gray Boe stock it shoots great but weighs a little over 12lbs. For a plinker/ hunter you might wanna go lighter.

I've gone with 22" bbls on all three of my V-22s, and have no regrets. I did the bbl work on the 1st rifle and went with a Krieger sendero blank finished at 22". It's been excellent, very good length for PRS-style shooting, with or w/o suppressor. Ordered the 2nd rifle as a bbl'd action with a Bartlein 22" Kukri - it's just slightly heavier than the sendero. Put both these rifles in Manners PRS1T stocks, and couldn't be happier with them. The 3rd rifle was also ordered as a bbl'd action with an 18" ACE in Ranch contour, the lightest one VGW offers. I put it into a Manners EH2, and was very pleased with the accuracy, but didn't care for the butt-heavy balance. Eventually did another Krieger for it, a #4 sporter finished at 22". This bbl added about 1lb to the weight, but most importantly, put the balance point at the DBM, which makes it more comfortable to carry IMHO. My other, older precision repeater is one of jelrod's repeater conversions on a Rem 40XB - again with a 22" Krieger, but this time in a Manners T4A Elite. It shoots with the same level of accuracy as the V-22s, just doesn't cycle quite as smoothly as the V-22s. Love all these rifles, only wish I had more time to shoot them in NRL22 & PRS-style matches. ETA photo - top to bottom: V22 Kukri, V22 Sendero, V22 #4 sptr, 40XB Sendero, CZ457 VPT/Shilen .850" straight - all bbl's are 22".

Interesting, flatlander. I've been shooting a CMP NIB Kimber 82G for about six years. It's been fun, but I'm ready to seriously upgrade; see recent match target below.
I just three days ago ordered my 'first' V-22 with a 22" Kukri bbl, but it's not even in the build queue yet. I'll be shooting only in NRA F Class at 50 and 100 yards. With that in mind, would you say the 22" is overkill, and I might consider modifying my rifle specs to shorter bbl, or just fine as is?

If you look back at traditional smallbore rifles, you'll find that quite a large number of them came from the factory with 28" bbls. I don't believe the only reason was to provide for a longer sight radius with irons; rather that there shooters & manufacturers both believed the longer bbls provided more consistent accuracy. I've got my name on the list to receive a V-22S action, and expect to try both RF BR & F-Class with it. To that end, I'll probably leave the Shilen R5 blank I have as long as possible. I can always shorten it if I feel it'd shoot better that way, but if I go with a tuner, I feel it'd be better to have the bbl at least 26" long. No scientific reason, and I've never had a tuner on any of my rifles in the past. Just want to see what results I get at the longest practical length before shortening it if necessary.

Wow.... lotta dudes complaining about literally 13oz of additional weight. Kukri 20" = 5 lb 13 oz . MTU 20" = 6 lbs 10 oz.

I'm guessing this is how y'all drink your beer:

And from the benchrest crowd, no less. Man up. :)

Hey granandman - if you had all the arthritis in your shoulders that I have in mine, maybe you'd have a little different perspective about 'manning up'.... My three comp 22s (two V-22s, and the jelrod converted 40XB) all have Manners elite carbon fiber shell stocks, and weigh right at 13lbs. Plenty heavy enough to be stable in positional shooting, and about as heavy as I want to deal with.

Hey garandman, I have not seen one single dedicated RFBR in this thread or any rifle being shot off a bench like a RFBR rifle. not sure how you can associate this as a bench rest crowd!

This whole place is benchrest. :) Snippy Hide is PRS. :)

Anyway... that misses the point. If 13 oz is too much for anybody for a stiffer barrel, maybe its time to consider other hobbies. :) I hear art and dance can be fun (tho I wouldn't know personally.) :)

Might want to go tell the cry babies complaining about rhe Razor II scopes that at SH. ;)

As to the barrel on a Vudoo .22, any of the contours are plenty stiff for it's use and recoil. Will just come down to the weight you want.

HAHAHAH !!!! Yeah, true dat. LOTTA thin skin / highly opinionated ppl over there that already know everything... starting at the very top.

I got some 17 lb + PRS style rifles. NONE of them are used for hunting, etc. I'd MUCH rather have a stiffer bbl and quality ( tho heavier) scope than a light rifle.

Heavier is gonna be stiffer / less whip in quality barrels. If I'm spending $4K + for a rifle package, I'm getting THE BEST even if it means an extra 13 oz.

Hell....half the ppl complaining about weight put on more than 13 oz at the bar last nite. :)
