Bolt Handle Attached

Funny thing is, you don't have to look him in the eye OR even talk to him. ;)
Just send the bolt, handle and $$$ and it'll be done and back in your hands before you have time to even think about it. :)

Up Date. I called Nate at SSG and discussed my bolt handle problem. I boxed it up and shipped it to Nate with a check to cover the 65.00 charge and 12.00 return shipping postage.
Nate does bolt handles a couple of times each month so one needs to be patient. The repaired bolt was returned and the work was outstanding with the primary extraction much better.
I spoke by phone to Nate twice and each time he was courteous and professional. To those of you that are looking for bolt tig welder that doesn't have a superiority complex,
Nate Dagley is a very viable alternative.
Thanks Nathan,
Robert

Butch, I sent you a PM. NorCal, Dan's instructions on his accutig web sight are pretty explicit. I'm glad I didn't just box it up and ship it to him based on his email reply.

So telling him to remove it and weld it back on the way it's supposed to be will get your bolt returned along with a snarky note?

Did you piss off Dan? He is the best!
Does not matter if he is "the best" he is an arrogant insulting blowhard. But his arrogance will be the downfall.. He explicitly detailed his proceedure in older posts for anybody up to the task...
I will spend my hard earned money with somebody who appreciates the opportunity for the work and does not feel that I should be blessed and take being spoken to like he did..
His idea of lack of communication was to keep me on the phone for a 45 minute diatribe about how Timney triggers are complete junk, which had nothing to do with bolt handles...

Lots of people out there that can put bolt handles on correctly.
Wheeler and greg tanner can do it as well as any.

There was a comment on this topic in another thread several months ago. The comment was that Remington incorrectly set up their jig to attach the handle to the bolt and never changed it. Apparently it is sufficient most of the time. How many smiths reposition the bolt handle as a matter of course or if needed? I see no issue with sending a bolt to someone and asking for the service. The worst that should happen is that they return it changed or with a note saying that they don't feel it's necessary. No need to be a smartass about it.

45 minutes that could have been spent fixing your bolt handle issue.:)
