My mom (68) has beat non-hodgkin's lymphoma twice now since January 2018. The first round, I think she was on Rituxin, which was effective, but came with some serious side effects....joint pain, mouth sores, the works. Bad enough that it forced her off of it for a bit, and the NH Lymphoma came back in a couple of spots in the meantime.
Early last year, a new medication was approved called Venclexta (family friends with a guy in the lab that helped complete the trials for the FDA, actually). It has been outstanding, thus far. Trials show it is extremely successful, with little to no side effects. For her, it eliminated the spots that had reappeared, and she's been clean for 8 months or so now. It's a 2 year regimen, after which reoccurance is apparently very rare.
Something to make sure his doctors take a look at, anyway. Best of luck to him, we'll be thinking of him.
