Prayers for Nephew

Last chemo day for this round

Journal entry by Dianna Schaller — 8 hours ago

Yesterday was a nice day for Jedi. His nausea was better and he had more energy. He was able to walk outside three times, put together some LEGO sets, get a haircut and a modified shower. Thank the Lord for all these things!
It never gets old listening to the boys talk to each other and explaining how things work. It was so cute listening to Isaiah and Jedi explain chemotherapy to Micah and how it works in Jedi’s body to fight the cancer. One such comment that really made me giggle was, “basically, it poops on my immune system!”
Jedi woke up really wanting hash browns for breakfast. His cravings are all over the place. I was thankful I had potatoes, so I could satisfy that request and it worked out well. I was busy in the kitchen and he started to pray silently to himself before he ate. After he was finished I asked him what he prayed for. He said he prayed that his chemo goes well today, and that he is certain it’s going to go great. He also prayed for daddy to have a productive day working today. Then he said I know it’s going to be a great day because I know God is always with me and His angels are always around me! This boy is always encouraging me and everyone around him. He always prays for God to bless everyone who is praying for him! Such a selfless example that we should all follow.
Last night Patrick and Jedi were looking at shirts that are designed for kids with central lines. It’s an amazing organization, and we are thankful for their generosity (as well as a special friend who gifted us some). Jedi picked two shirts with “Be Strong” on the front. This is awesome because it’s based on one promise from our Lord that has brought us so much comfort the last few weeks:
BE STRONG! JOSHUA 1:9
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.

He indeed is with us today, and He is with all of you as well. Please pray with us that Jedi’s treatments go well today, and thank for supporting our little trooper!

Brother bonding day

After I posted yesterday morning we went to Jedi’s chemo appointment. He got his blood drawn, his line dressing changed, his blood drawn again (because numbers were off), threw up in the bathroom sink, and then got his chemo infusion. The appointment we thought would go for about 3 hours ended up being about 5. It was a long day, and we had some fun and good news along the way. Jedi was excited that daddy taught him how to play pinball, and that he could play a car driving game during his chemo.
We got the preliminary results from the boys’ donor match results. Three of the boys are what they consider a “good match”. We will find out more specifics when we meet with the bone marrow transplant team in Madison. That appointment will likely be in less then two weeks. Jedi’s bloodwork has remained stable except for his neutrophil count which dropped to a critical level. Because of this new information we have to be even more diligent with isolation to keep our kiddo safe. Some days the isolation makes us weary and feels like it will go on forever. Some days we can get consumed with worry about Jedi getting an infection. It’s in these moments where I hear God’s word reminding me:
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4:6-7‬
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6:34‬
Today Jedi had a really good day. Less nausea and more awake time. We were thankful for this since Jonah turned 15 today! The day was filled with Jonah’s favorite foods, brother walks with Jedi, and lots of games. I’m so grateful for this time with all the boys, and getting to witness every day the bond that they share!
“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to dwell together in unity!”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭133:1‬

The verses you quoted have a meaning in my life and my personal situation as of just this morning I don’t believe it is a coincidence I am pulling for Jedi and thank you for the verses this morning. Bill and Sandi from Tennessee

Same here. I have Philippines 4:6 over my front door. It means a lot to me. I don't mind saying this, some might take it the wrong way, but I was taught anything that drives you to your knees is a good thing! This young boy makes my heart swell thru Christ Jesus.
