Best tent for hunting

If you need to rely on your tent for all of the worse conditions look at North Face, expensive but well worth if you value staying dry in the nastiest conditions.

I have a North face and after 5 days of down pour everything was soaked. Tent was new

Thumbs up to the Eureka. I have had one since 1975. Self standing,alum. frame. Mine is not waterproof on purpose.I bought a matching orange WP fly.Works great. Orange for signaling if needed. I use it every year and have spent some time in downpours,never a leak. Good luck. Jeff

my six man tipi has made several trips to Alaska and with stood 5 days of rain on a float hunt. after 5 days of rain everything will be wet and the stove is the only way to dry gear. you will need a liner.

In really like my Snugpak it is a 3 man so it fits 2 real comfortably, held up to a blizzard 50 mph wind and 2 foot of snow this past winter with no issues. Bonus, it is a fly first tent which means the fly goes up first, then you clip the inside in, keeps everything dry even when putting up in a downpour. I personally put it up then left the inside clipped in so all I do is spread it out, put in 3 color coded poles and bam, it's done except for steaking it down and it still fits in the bag with no problem when it's all clipped together. They ask over 400 for it, but I got online and got mine from walley mart for 252, shipped in to local store. There are videos on you tube on this line of tents, 1 man, 2 man, and 3 man are available. Very packable and is considered a 4 season tent. Mine is referred to as the "Bunker" model.

U can spend hundreds easily on a one man (solo) pack tent. Years ago I purchased a Eureka Solitaire solo tent. I think it was around 100.00 then probably double now. Kept me dry in heavy rains and had plenty of room for my pack and archery/ rifle gear. Won't be roomy but it fits all of it if needed. My main criteria was dry and durable. It is both. I usually always have a base camp and hunt from my solo spike camp. Kelty, Eureka and Ascend all make solo tents and I believe they are all good tents at a decent price.

I just hosted a bunch of Marines at my place. My nephew and all his buddies camp out here and fish the ponds for a week {and drink, smoke cigars, shoot and carry on}. They get together every year for a vacation together. All these guys were in Iraq at the same FOB.
They all had "inflatable" tents and I am sorry, I did ask the brand but I cannot remember. They are not cheap, but the thing is that they don't use hard poles so in the wind or heavy rain the inflated frame can give. I guess you don't really have to stake them down either if it's not windy. They are not big tents, kind of just pup tent size. But it rained for three days and nobody got wet.

Edit: the brand is Heimplanet and they have several different models.

Used one of Cabelas With the fly for 3 years never got Wet plenty of room might be two big for packing any distance used it as a base

that said, ventilation is critical to not get soaked by condensation. So having a tent that can open up and close down helps a lot.

Honestly not sure that any other brand will be better.

Sierra Designs also makes top notch tents. Eureka does also but a little more aimed at value. I had a Mountain Hardware that was really good.

If it’s a true backpack weight tent it will be compact and not built to withstand high wind or snow load. Bigger tents with large vestibules have more room to get in/out without bringing the water in. If you’re packing in, staying put for a few days, and packing out, you can probably handle a bigger more bulky tent.

This is a nice set up. What does it weight? I will be packing in a couple different wilderness

It’s a backpack setup. I haven’t weighed it in several years but the total is less or equal to most Traditional 4 season two man backpacking tents but has much more room and can use a stove for warmth , drying out , and cooking on. Mine has held up to several wild thunderstorms on top of mountain. Luke Moffitt used to have a video up of his on Kodiak island in 70 mph wind all day. I’m 6’4” and can stand next to the pole. I’m house sitting this week so I’m not home to weigh everything but off the top of my head it’s @5lbs with the stove. I’ll get a weight sometime this week.
