Hornady 162gr ELDX's

Not using the 162's but in my 7mmRM the 175's liked .050" off and the 200's out of a 300 WM shot good at .025" off, like 284winner said they love to jump.

A-Max bullets like 0.030" jump in my .223 (75 gr) and .284 (162 gr). I have enough stock that I won't have to buy ELDs for the smaller bores for a few years, but I have some 285 gr .338 ELDs coming in for my new rifle; I'll start at 0.030" and then see what the rifle likes.

Touching to 2 thousanths in has worked best so far..
The problem I've had it I've had a sticky bolt with my 284 for quite a while..
I was thinking my loads must have been too close to pressure..
Last week after more ELDX testing I decided to strip the bolt in my tikka as I downloaded and downloaded the ELDX load and it was still sticky..
Cleaned the firing pin that looked ok and sprayed a bit of wd40 in the backend of the bolt that the shroud covers and I'll be damned if that cured it...!!
I don'really know what it was..!!
I was thinking maybe dirty/Dusty/dry and the wd40 lubed it..!!
I'll know next time lol
I was getting some decent accuracy at 55grs of N160 originally before I backed the load off..
I can go back to where I was and should be quickly back on the accuracy node.
Incidently I did try 10,15,20 and 25 jump and 10 jump was the best of a bad
bunch that didn't quite make 0.5 moa at 100yds..
Not quite how I like it...
Thanks for replies

I'll try like I said and give up..
Change back to what I used before as I'm just wasting barrel life etc etc
Thanks for replies

My old armalon 308 was jumping the bullets along way as the throat wore out.
I think the furthest jump ive used in quute a few years is a 20 jump in my 6.5x47 with 140gr amaxs..
139gr scenars is 10.
In my saums 10 to 13 jump and my 284 was 15 with 180gr scenar l's.
The only bullet I've ever seated with jam is 180gr ELDM's in my saums and 284..
It doesn't occur to me to jump them that far as I've never done it.
As I've plenty of room in the mag I load long not to take up boiler room space.
Do you start with a 10 jump and work in 10 thousanths increments or 20,40,60 etc etc...??

On the other hand, I never jam because there are too many cease fires at the National Matches (boat in the impact area, eagle on the number board, lightning coming, etc., etc.) and I don't want to end up with an action full of powder because the bullet was left in the barrel when I unloaded.

Depends on the rifle & it's intended use.

I'm seating 0.020" off the lands in my Savage 111 in 7mm Rem Mag with good results.

My custom Mauser in 284 Win has the SAAMI extremely long freebore.
I can seat the 162s out that they are barely held by the neck.
But seated to Hornady's suggested 2.995", and checking concentricity, it can be a very accurate hunting rifle.

The 180gr ELDM's we 2 thousanths in so I'm unlikely to get a bullet stuck..
I tried them in 4 f open matches and I had 3 blow up in 2 matches so I no longer use them in a match..

Sorted now..
Kept them touching.
Started at 54.4grs of N160 stepped up in 0.2gr increments,54.6grs tightened up the group and 54.8grs was a bughole.. gained a few fps but the sticky bolt is back..
It's not at the bottom..
It releases freely but the last bit before the bolt free's is the sticky bit..
Maybe so dirt or grime in where the lugs lock in from a spot of tetra grease stuff on the back of the lugs to stop them wearing causes it..
Probaly going to Have to take the barrel off to see
