6x45 (223) accuracy loads

Friend dug out a Rem 700 in 6x45 that he's had for years and hasn't shot it yet. He 'finds' more guns in his collection that he's forgot he had than you can believe.

Anyway, would any of you guys with 6x45 experience and 70-80 grain flat base bullets share powders, velocities and charge weights you had success with? Research I ve done to this point mentions H335, H322, H4895 and H4198 as all good candidates. He has all these powders and more.

Back in the day the 6x45 was one of the good ones for short range benchrest accuracy. ( The PPC and BR case took care of that)

Thanks for any suggestions!

I use H4895 and H335 ,both with Speer 70 grain TNTs . Both are very accurate at 100 yards . I started low and went up the charge range and found best accuracy on the low end with both powders .Mine is 1/8 twist .

I think youre thinking of a 6x47 (not the current 6x47 im speaking of the 222 cased one)
Me and @bc’z shoot the 6x45 here and there. With the 62-68 gr bullets they like any powder that a 6ppc likes. I use n133, h322, xmr8208, etc.

I got great accuracy with the H-4895 but not so good on velocity. When i went to IMR-8208, it was like Magic, accuracy and velocity both.

I use 80 gr sierra #1515 and 80 gr Nosler BT bullets with 27.0grn IMR 8208XBR and Fed GM205M Primers. Right at 3000fps and very accurate in my 700 Remington with a 1:10 twist Pac-Nor Barrel.
I also have an AR-15 6X45 1:9 Twist barrel and use the Sierra 80 gr #1515 bullets with the 27.0grn IMR 8208XBR powder and Fed GM205M primer. 2839fps it also shoots well.

Dam! Nice!! You know your gonna make me get some Barts bullet now.
Was going to stop at 5 shots, and decided to keep shooting. 6 went into same hole, 7&8 could have been nervousness or excitement, or that damn milspec trigger I haven't changed yet.
500, 80gr dominator's showed up here yesterday.

He's planning on starting with 80 grain Sierras and H335 and H4895... sounds like we re on right track. Don't know if he's got any 8208

+1 8208 works wonders in my 6x45 AR
70 grain Speer TNT 26.5 grains
80 Sierra Blitz 26.0 grains
70 grain Sierra Blitz King 26.5 grains
