MOST ACCURATE BULLET IN THE WORLD

I have had access to the 90/.223, 110/6mm, 135/6.5 and the 153/6.5 A-Tip bullets.
In all my measuring and weighing I have to say they could easily be the best bullet to come off their manufacturing line ever. They have rivaled the quality of a few (unnamed) custom bullets and beat the current crop of Bergers by (pardon the pun) a long shot.
Does all this mean they are the most accurate bullet in the world? Well, that is a pretty tough claim to make or prove true or not.
I've seen the 153 A-Tip transform the performance of my 6.5PRC. Accuracy out to 1,000 yards improved greatly in that case and my elevation dial-up stayed the same as with the 140 ELDM.
The 110 A-Tip made a bit less impact on my 6 Creedmoor but in all fairness the barrel is on its way down.

Great report shoot4fun. As mentioned earlier down the road we will learn more. I have measured the 6mm 110 s as well and the only bullet that I can honestly say that will come close to it in consistency by my measurements is the 107 gr. SMK. But, I have only measured factory made bullets.

I haven't a clue which is the most accurate bullet in the world if there is such a thing but frankly I don't care. All I need is a bullet that shoots within my standards for accuracy and terminal performance for precision varmint / predator and big game hunting. Sierra and Nosler bullets fill that need quite adequately. Rather that searching / testing for the "ultimate" bullet I'd rather spend my time and money on becoming a better field shooter.

However, if I was a competitive target shooter looking for the "ultimate" bullet I'd look no further than the top winning shooters and see what they are shooting. They must have figure something out.

I had a barrel spun up last year to test the 230's in a FTR 308. Shot 1642 of them. I tried the 230 Bergers, very disappointed. Tried the Sierra 230's, better than Bergers but inconsistent in dimensions still. Bought 300 230 A tips to try. Now we are talking, absolutely the most consistent bullet dimensionally I have ever shot and it showed on paper. I ran the same x counts as I normally do shooting 200's. Recoil is not as bad as you would think. Vertical 9's not an issue at all. Does it require a different hold? Yes but very doable. Will it make a so-so wind reader a great wind reader? Nope. Ask me how I know  In the hands of a better shooter these would be lethal. BC values are at least as good as advertised. I might be to blame for Tim V trying them out lol. We shot together last year and he was surprised to see I was shooting them in a 308 and doing pretty good with them. I bought 1000 more and had very good results. Hornady has done it right with the A tips. Best bullet in the world? Best 230 I have ever tried for sure. They need to make a 200-215 grain. I would by a boat load of them.

Can anybody here point me to any matches of substance (you beating your brother at a just the two of you match don't count) anywhere in the competition world where Hornady has beaten Bergers? At this point in time, Berger's records speak for themselves. Hornady? Noise is all it is...

tick-tock...

acyr,

as a self-proclaimed "mediocre FTR shooter"; how much credibility can we attach to your statement?

Absolutely none.

If Hornady’s advertising claims were even remotely related to real world performance they’d be the only bullet used by every serious competition shooter. No other bullet would appear at any national competition. Here in the real world Hornady dominates no competitive shooting sport for very good reason.

I’m not sure if a-tips and a-max bullets are the same but I believe they are. My experience with 750 grain a-max bullets out of a 50 BMG was three in one hole slightly larger than 50 caliber at 100 yards. At 300 yards three went in less than an inch. This was in a Barrett. I never got to shoot at long range. Accurate yes, but more accurate than than hand made bullets, no. Maybe I would believe differently if I would have had the chance to shoot at 1K or more.

Dave.

I thought the A-max had a polymer or something akin to it tip rather than aluminum in the A-tip.

Maybe A-Tips will become the hot new bullet. However, if you really want to validate the bullet you won't use a factory PRS rifle in 6.5 Creed.

You'll use a LR BR rig, preferably a heavy gun though a light gun would also work. Start with a 6 BRA. Success will be 600 yd five shot groups under 1" and 1000 yd groups under 3". That would just mean it was a viable option.

Calling any bullet the best when you have Bart's Bullets, Vapor Trails, and many others that have set long range records will require REAL proof......
