6mm Dasher Loads

Is there a go to bullet for the Dasher?

Like the 308 has the 185 juggernaut.
I have had very good luck with the Berger 105 VLD’s, Berger 108’s, and of course the Vapor Trail 103’s. Some lots of Sierra 107’s have also been good.

This is the new Berger, are people going to be switching from the 105 Hybrid?

6 mm 109 Grain Long Range Hybrid Target #24485

Guys I want to add some info I've been collecting. I built a remage 6dasher with a criterion 7.5twist 26" barrel. I'm using the sierra 107gr, re 16, and norma brass trimmed to lapua length. I really began to see things shrink @ 34.9gr. 35gr - 2960, 35.1gr - 2970, 35.3gr - 2992, & 35.5gr - 3002fps. All of these groups had single digit sd across my magnetospeed v3, but the two groups of 35.1 and 35.5gr had the best accuracy in my rifle with no pressure issues. I'm looking to use the 35.5gr load...

Went out to prove my re16 load @ 600 yesterday, 107gr smk, norma dasher brass trimmed to lapua length, cci 450, 35.5gr re16. 3002fps average. Wind fell off on 1 shot

Can I get your 107 recipe please?
I just checked, looks like I identified three nodes, 33.5, 35.0, and 36.3gr. 35.0gr +- a little with three of my 28" 4 grove Kriegers has been right at 3000-3013 fps. This has worked in my dashers, both 104 and 105 FB with two lots of RL-16. One lot was a bit too bulky to reach the 3000 node, so I shot it up in my .284. The 33.5 node is accurate and easy on components. I won several 1000 yard F-Class matchs with both the 35.0 and 36.3 (3080) load, once in Rexburg, ID..... super windy.
The 33.5 is the only one that is not compressed with 104 FB.
YMMV.

Do you think a starting load of 33.5 of rl-16 and 107 smk's would be ok? I have an 8 twist x 26" tube

I'm new to the Dasher and have been doing a lot of reading on loads. My barrel is chambered for the Norma Dasher, is there much of a difference in capacities between it and the fire formed Lapua?
Thanks in advance...

I just got my first 6 Dasher last week, and so far I'm loving it! The loads the previous owner worked up for it are Norma brass, (which I understand is a slightly different clambering than Lapua) Berger 105 Hybrid, 31.8gr Varget, 450M primers. 2897fps AV.
Shoots excellent!

I am new to the 6 Dasher world as well, and the gun I just bought is chambered for Norma. The guy I bought it from builds long range and bench rest rifles and has done extensive shooting and testing with them. He told me that the Norma will start showing pressure signs significantly before the Lapua. Mine is running 31.8 Varget shooting 105 Hybrids at 2897 and he advised backing that load down some when the weather gets warmer. He said the typical 32.5 load he shoots in his Lapua is WAY too hot in the Norma. I was advised that when I am ready to re-barrel, to go with the Lapua, as the brass is more consistent, last much longer, and can be shot with heavier powder charges at higher velocity before it starts showing pressure signs. All that said, mine does shoot really well, so I'm sticking with the Norma until I wear it out! :)

So over all which would be better for a 26.5" Dasher , 1-8" or 1-7" twist? Using 105 - 115's ? I have now a Krieger .236" 1-7" 4 groove and wondering if that's going to be too fast? Thanks Larry

I think you're good with a 1:7. I'm shooting a 1:7, principally with Berger 105 Hybrids, and it shoots well. The faster twist rate will allow you to get the maximum BC benefit from the longer 110 gr. and 115 gr. bullets, even though they may stabilize in a 1:8 twist barrel.

I'm also running a 1:7 in a 6 XC with velocities in the mid-3,100 fps range and have not had a bullet come apart on me yet.

Good luck.
