Dasher drivers:

I just started working with my first Dasher. The chamber seems like a mashup of some good ideas but takes some work to prepare brass. It is a no-turn 272 neck with a 130 freebore. Case length is 1.570". That means you have to trim a good bit off Norma Dasher brass and/or fire formed Lapua will have a short neck for several firings. The barrel is a 27" 5R 8 twist large shank target profile. The muzzle is 1" in diameter.

I did the shoot and clean routine for several rounds then shot the following:
2-2-21 Target 1.jpg
2-2-21 Target 2.jpg

The above were shot at 100 yards using a Seb Joy-Pod and Bigfoot rear bag from prone. I used 105 Hybrid Target bullets, Varget and CCI 450s in virgin Norma brass. They are all 5-shot groups. There are pairs grouped vertically with each top group .020 off the lands and each bottom at .030 off the lands.

It was cold and windy and my jacket may have gotten caught up in the stock a few times though I was careful to minimize that from happening. I didn't shoot over flags but did my best to shoot in a known condition.

I am thinking the 32.1 to 32.4 groups look the best though the point of impact is clearly higher for the 32.4 groups. The 31.8 group is much more similar in point of impact to the 32.1 groups.

For those with experience with this cartridge, am I testing in the right ballpark?

Thank you,
Henryrifle

My first time ever with a dasher at the range.
Shot 5 different loads at 300. This was the best.
Windy but managed to get 4 off before tripping up.
These are .020” off the lands.

Berger 108 elite hunter

32.2gr Varget .060 off lands

Sub 1/2 moa
SD 3 ES 10 over 10 shots
Barrel has yet to “speed up” as it is just now at 160 down the tube

No clue on reamer specs as it was acquired used. Still needing to develop a combo for a 105hyb as everything I loaded then shot yesterday to test shot like poop

I just built a 6 dasher on a trued Remington action, 28" 5 r Bartlein, alum chasis.
Trying most everything and 32.5 grains of Varget with 5 different bullets one was 2000 MR powder averaged .303" for 5 shots.
A surprise was a ladder test 10 rds 115 DTAC velocities ranged from 2876 fps at start to 2993 fps with 2000 MR....all 10 went into .457" 5 into .193" 4 into .045" 3 into .031". 115 Noslers rdf did well too at 3020 fps. 105 rdf and 107 SMK 3080 fps, 108 eldm 3100 fps. 110 SMK at 3048 fps with 2000 MR. Also shot 112 Barns with Varget needs a little more improvement 5 into .484". For varmint bullets CFE 223 55 grain Varmageddon over 4000 fps, 70 grain 3700 fps, 58 grain V-max hit 4100 fps, 4050 fps was accurate. Also tried 4064 with 107 mk 3030 fps , and H 4895 wasn't that interesting lower velocities Come back to it later... Berger 108 are good to go with 32.5 gr Varget.. but got a bunch of 112 Barns to test with 2000MR along the Hornady 108 eldm to see how they do... all brass is Alpha Munitions 6 mm Dasher brass ...no fire forming Lapua brass, just load and shoot, right out of the box, right up to what you decern is a max. load. Shooting good groups and primer pockets are tight. Very little runout its been good for the first 300 rds...I ordered 500 pcs of their 6 dasher brass, made in America..it's good to go.

New 6Dasher barrel.

It’s been awhile since I shot in competition at 600 yards and was looking for info on a good load for my dasher. I pulled out some of my previous targets shot during matches and found some good loads using Varget. Varget wasn't my first choice but how could I not pay attention to these groups. These are 10 shot groups at 600 yards shot during competition. 33.0 grains Varget, Lapua Brass, CCI 450 primers, 103 grain Vapor Trail bullets set about 10 thousands into rifling. Bat M action, 28” Brux 1 in 8 twist barrel. The first group put 8 shots into an inch with two out where I obviously missed a condition change. It‘s time I head down to Eatonville to try this load out again.65067F3F-38D1-4B42-BD68-C0B5E329504F.jpegF91A4038-8CE8-420E-863F-34F038E3CDE6.jpeg7BD117E8-F8AC-4347-947F-2254A8863163.jpegFBB766BE-451C-4B27-A69A-6C792772BB4A.jpeg
