I had a '92 Ford Ranger with a 3.0 V6 and now have a '06 Ranger with a 4.0 V6.

In both cases it was easier to jack up the front end, remove the front wheels, and work through the wheel wells. Bought a bunch of those plastic push thingies and remove the skirt that hangs down from the inner wheel well.

I don't require a blood transfusion now when I'm done
