Jim if only we could turn time back , I remember selling mid 60 Corvettes , Chevelle 67 SS , and the last of the cars I wished I still had was 66 Impala SS 396 4 speed , positive rear , convertible had fender skirts and all . But out of all of them I always wanted the 426 hemi in a dart.

Mr. Wallace. This was my Hemi Cuda. The first picture was July 19th, 1980. My friend Al Smyth is the guy pictured sitting on the engine hoist. He owns Port A Tree timing systems Company in Uxbridge, Mass. A Brilliant guy. He owns 2 Hemi Cuda's this Black one which he let me use for the day and a stock blue one. The last picture of the car on the trailer is Sunday April 1st 84 the day I sold it to a guy from NH. I took off 2 days later in a 74 Vega GT from Milford Mass and drove to Northridge California to stay with my friend Dominic and his family. Years later Dominic was the Vice President and chief enforcer of the LA chapter of The Hell's Angels. Dom was a bodybuilder and he was big but he couldn't fight too good. Well he ended up getting trained by old man Gracie and boy could he fight after that. He never lost a fight. Didn't stay out on the left coast too long only a month and a half. Just wasn't my cup of tea. When they say it's the land of the fruits and nuts they weren't kidding. PS Mr. Wallace. Check out Dragway Memories from Cayuga Dragway in Ontario Canada on You Tube. It was a Div 1 track and your uncle Pee Wee's 76 Monza flopper is shown in quite a few episodes and the car that I worked on is featured a number of times. I never made it to that track though.

For the record. 1972 CZ 400 MX. Total weight ready to race - 205 lbs. Fiberglass tank, and plastic everything. Drilled everything full of holes to lighten. Ported, with a whopping 3" of travel. Cornutt shocks. Lineman's boots and real leather pants. Those pants made me so much faster...

The Isle of Man course is unbelievably unsafe for both riders and spectators! Reminds me a lot of the Sarthe circuit in 1955, and the early Watkins Glen road course, where both drivers and spectators were killed in “off road” accidents. I hope they make the needed changes before a similar tragedy occurs.

Did a little shifter cart racing back in my karting days. Mostly my son and I raced WKA Gold Cup (Briggs flat head/road course). The shifter kart is what pushed me off the cliff of formula car racing.

Spent a few years back in the early 90's chasing the ASA series (American Speed Association) around the US and Canada racing on such famed asphalt tracks as Winchester, Salem, I-70, Anderson, Toledo, Berlin, Milwaukee, Nashville and the Minnesota State Fairgrounds just to name a few. Had some great times with my great friend, the late Tony Roper, who was tragically killed in a NASCAR Truck series race at Texas back in 2001. I was lucky enough to be the jackman on his crew for a couple of years. Sure miss him.

I’ve lived most of my life in Wi, and used to go to the ASA races. I remember Tony Roper. I met a lot of drivers over the years. I used to race in the NASCAR Sportsman class at LaCrosse. 5/8 mile asphalt track. My last time on the track was June 2004 in my early 40’s then. I was leading my heat race and got spun and wrecked going into turn 1. Lots of fellow drivers did some quick bandage work on car and I got back out as the green flag waved the restart. I actually got back up to 5th in the remaining laps. Before the sportsman racing, I ran a lot of enduros. 150 cars trying to last 200 laps.

Anyone interested in the off road truck racing? There are two tracks that got a lot of tv coverage. One in Cal, and the other is Crandon Wi. My youngest son is currently rebuilding a truck that he’s going to run at Crandon.
