IDOD neck turning tool?

No I haven’t but I sure like what I just read I’m very interested into checking into it further.

I still have that 6br I bought from you years ago!

to your other post I use brake clean if I can be outside it dries fast then I tumble for a few minutes and start loading
Inside I as well use alcohol but it’s harder to get the pma off with it, it does it though then start loading.

I can more than double my case per hour production with the IDOD vs a powered lathe from another manufacturer and I turn the necks dry so no mess. Concentricity is not any different than a mandrel/outside neck turner...both very good. The surface finish is better with a lubed set-up but is good enough for me with the IDOD. The chips/ribbon of cut brass from the ID cutter have to be removed with a brush. The ability to completely remove a 'donut' on the ID is a purported advantage compared to a traditional mandrel type turner. I shoot F-class and will turn 300-400 cases in a batch to have enough cases for a week of competition so speed is important to me and is the reason I bought the IDOD. So far I have been VERY satisfied. If I was turning 50 or so cases and I had plenty of free time to turn, fire a time or two, push the 'donut' to the outside and skim turn again it would find no advantage to it. Even though I really have no concern for a donut formed in the base of the neck in my cases as I seat all my bullets long enough to keep the bearing surface above that region I still find the time savings worth buying one. YMMV

Love mine. My necks are smooth and shiny just as good as old method of mandrel/lube. Much faster since you are having to lube and expand cases prior to turning. No mandrel heat to worry about. Worth the money if you turn a lot of brass. And it’s easy to set up and swap case holders for different cartridges. Like other person said only downside is picking the brass shaving out of the inside that the inside cut makes
 
It is the best machine on the market. Period dot end of story. What you are buying is a precision machine that will save you countless hours of your life and properly ran it will give you the most consistent necks you’ve probably ever had. If you don’t turn a lot of cases then it’s probably not worth the price so it really depends on volume and how much you value your time

I turn a metric ton of cases and i dont see how it would work for me. Thats on ppc brass and 30br. Way too much runout after expanding

Those of you who use IDOD. Which caliber are you turning? What is the sequence you use to get final neck turn?
 
I don’t have one. But it looks really well executed and I have yet to hear anyone who has one complain about it, other than the price tag (which to be fair, seems a reasonable thing when you consider the cost of making one). In fact, I haven’t heard from anyone who has one who doesn’t love it.

But if you’re trying to save a buck, try a floating (hand held) setup with an electric screwdriver, and CARBIDE mandrels. Carbide is important. I find that I can usually take lapua brass straight out of the box, skip the expanding step, skip the lube, and turn necks. Works like a charm. Sometimes if it’s a little tight, a drop of oil on the mandrel helps.

Again. Don’t be like me and cheap out using steel mandrels for years. Carbide is the way. Worth every penny.
