One less place I can socially distance at ! Range re-opened this morning !!!

Everything you do is a risk. Do you drive? Do you fly in airplanes? Ever climb up a ladder? Cross a street? You can’t eliminate every single risk in life.

By the same token, civil liberties in this world are Just as precious as life. We’re skating on thin ice here...

Talk to someone who has fled communism or actually lived under the cloak of tyranny sometime. We’re on a slippery slope when the government can suspend you’re right to gather or even leave your house with the stroke of a pen with nothing more than this as a reason.
Kinda think with the suspending if religious gathering, they are already violating the 1st amendment. Where is the line drawn ? What's next ? Hey, maybe if guns are causing excessive deaths, maybe they'll violate the 2nd one also and everyone will just cooperate. I know this is all extreme but there is a certain reality to it. I'm not even minimizing how bad this virus is but let's all use some common sense. They are already talking about opening up the country in May.

I'm with you, and not to minimize the seriousness of this disease but I’m starting to think the cure is more dangerous...

Every single time someone decides they are above the rules and does not obey such orders, the odds of spreading and prolonging the infection/pandemic increase.

Why there are apparent exceptions to that in some areas such as playing golf, I have no idea. Such ordinances should apply equally to all unnecessary activities, not just a few.

I'd much rather have the government err on the side of caution at the moment, because we can always sort things out later and potentially learn from any mistakes we have made.

I don’t think anyone has advocated going to shoot where there is a rule against it. I’ve read a lot of these orders and they tend to clone each other. The ones I’ve seen do not prohibit outdoor activities. That’s a big misunderstanding. Lots of these ranges are simply electing to be closed. That’s fine Ned but it doesn’t mean the others are shirking the law.

Second point above, why should there be a one size fits all indoor rule? Is that all the attention we can muster to give a diverse 3,300 mile wide piece of land with 330 million people? I get solidarity, where it applies, if that is it. Put the dinner fork down? What’s the etiquette here, until the last last state somewhere lifts stay at home? Until Mayor Bill de Balsio supports gun ranges? Maybe 2A supporters in NY actually take heart that ranges elsewhere are open.

Third, I think your point about erring on the side of caution is in reality that the government didn’t go far enough, in your opinion. The government went plenty far enough. As of today this country has lost 1,100 jobs for every one person who has died of Covid-19. That’s the second tragedy. That’s a record. This country and the media went plenty far.

I’ll just leave this here... https://www.foxnews.com/politics/ex-nyt-reporter-challenging-the-coronavirus-narrative

What seems to be the most common way people in rural communities are getting the virus are from family members of those that traveled internationally. The spreading of the virus in big cities is more related to contact with others in close proximity. Obviously originally contacted from a person that traveled outside the U.S. but the spread compounded by contact with others making contact with that person in the workplace, socially or thru family. As many people traveled by Subway or taxi getting the virus from hard surfaces carrying it. There are just too many variables and to use the social management of this in rural and suburban communities equally is just plain ridiculous. Sure anyone can get the virus but it's tough to get if it's not there to pass on. With a few per county in rural areas, those cases are in total lockdown quarantine until they

He makes a good argument

And I just read on another site where they are starting to believe this thing has been around much longer than they are now claiming. Maybe even as long ago as last flu season.

I myself caught one of the nastiest bugs I’ve ever experienced last season while visiting with my son and grandchildren in Minnesota. Got it from my son”s family who had had it just before I got there. It only lasted a few days but it was horrible while it lasted. I often wonder about that. . .

Heard on fox news that it hasn't been here prior to November. How they derived that assumption I didn't hear but it was talked about this morning.

Two possibilities here: They really don’t know much about this thing. Or they know a hell of a lot more than they are saying but it doesn’t fit someone’s narrative so they will do everything they can to squash it.

The one thing I’m really convinced of is that something doesn’t quite pass the smell test here. If people were walking around dropping on the streets, I’d be all for these measures. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case at all and there is more and more evidence that this whole thing is being blown way out of proportion and what we’re doing is ridiculously heavy handed.

Time will tell what’s really going on hopefully. . .

Well I can half agree with some of that. In some hot zones, this may not be over reacting at all. In rural areas, it's without a doubt too much. When I'm hearing about single kayakers getting arrested for enjoying the outdoors alone. That's when todays law went too far. On top of that, these arresting officers aren't even gloved or masked when making contact with these people. Those officers are puppets on a string. No stones to do the right thing. Only what their told. Shameful really.

That we can agree on.

Anyone ever contemplate that this is mother nature's way of managing the human race ? The older, unhealthy and sick or weak animal species succumb to death in the wild from just that. Why does this have to be any different ? Sure some healthy humans have died from the covid 19 virus but 85%+ have been the older, sickly people in our society. I mean isn't that why hunting is so effective. It manages wildlife for healthier populations. Just thinking outside the box.

I actually have given that some consideration. And whether natural or not, it does seem to serve that purpose. We humans think we are above the laws of nature - we’re not. Every other species on the planet abides by that law. Why shouldn’t we?

Can you tell I'm bored. Can't believe I actually put that to print. Not that I haven't thought about it in the past but not something I truly 100% think is the case. Just had to throw it out there.

Nothing wrong with musing. I think one of the most important characteristics one can can have is an open mind. Many people claim they have one until facts and reality begin to clash with their predetermined conclusions - which in turn triggers their ego.

I like to think I am flexible enough to accept the reality of wherever the facts lead despite my preconceived notions. This may turn out to be one of those cases.

The only thing about that is the virus doesn’t need to kill the host to propagate. It could more successfully continue to reproduce if the person survived and kept making copies.

Mother Nature can be a cruel master. We see it in droughts where wildlife is devastated, chronic wasting disease for no particular reason and other instances. Any time mankind thinks that they have her under control, she will take back anything she wants and we cannot stop her.

I am just so glad that my range, or one of them, is open and free for me to roam and shoot in. Very seldom to I ever see another person around.

Me too! Well , I did as I said I was going to. I went to the range, met my 2 shooting buddies, a 3rd fella showed up and we posted targets out on the 300 yarder and commenced to squeezing triggers. We have a 32 foot bench line, we were spaced apart pretty evenly. We shot for about 5 hours. I'm not going to say we maintained 6+ feet apart at all times, but we did good. If I get the virus, should I blame it on one of them, or my wife bringing it home to me? She is a Nurse. Just to add , her facility is corona clean. But they do have a heck of a case of the regular flu going thru the buildings.
