I have a like new old stock Tikka t3 Scout 223 on its way,

I know it is an older Tikka version but can you guys recall much information about this rifle,

I know it has a 20” 8 twist barrel

Curious about anyone who has had experience with this model.

Thanks

No, but it will be great. I would love to have it. All my tikka's are great. The short barrel will only increase accuracy. Hope your going to reload for it.?

DON'T take, a chance on it ! Ship it, to Me ! I can deal with, that kind of,.. "adversity" ! Like was said above,. ALL our, Tikka's,. "shoot" !
Bought an OLD stock .243 Win. T3, SS 1-10 TW, and it shoots in the .3's AKA "Cloverleaf's" with the 87 HVLD Bergers.
You just need to find THE, Bullet, it likes ! Might want to look at, a YO Dave Trigger Spring and make sure the Bbl isn't "touching" the Forend after, the Shank !
My 1-7 TW, (* AR-14 *) shoots, 55/ 60, Nosler Bal Tips, 65 GK's and 69 gr. HP Sierras,.. real well ! You should have,.. NO, problems ! Clean with, JB's, a couple of times in, the beginning, but use SPARINGLY as it, Polishes rifling and "Break in" New barrel, carefully !

I picked one up several years ago now and it's been a great rifle. I ended up putting it in a Manners stock and adding CDI bottom metal, mostly just to be different. Shoots great with 75 AMax's.

I would like to reload for it
I have all the reloading benches set-up
but time is limited with little kids,
They are my first priority
What load does your 223 like

Make the kids do the reloading ! Ha. But seriously the 60 grain berger bullet's with a full amount of varget powder is a good option.

Ok thanks
I’ll write that down for a starting combo
I’ve got the powder just need the bullets

I received the Tikka Scout 223
It appears to have been shot very little
I don’t believe it has never been disassembled
Metal looks like a new gun
Crown looks perfect
Chamber and barrel look fantastic
Trigger is set at 1lb

Man was I happy
I felt lucky to stumble across this Scout

I have a regular tikka t3, also with an 8 twist barrel but mine is 22".
This particular rifle loves benchmark and 53 gr v-maxes

I have a Tikka T3 Lite and the heavy Varmint model in 223 Rem. Great rifles. They both shoot sub 1/2 moa with 60 grain Vmax bullets and H4895. The Varmint model is a sub 1/4 moa if I do my part.

The Varmint model was a recent acquisition. I had some 60 Vmax bullets laying around so I loaded them up with H4895 and Federal 210 match primers. I was shocked by the results, my first group was .485, one flyer my fault. I retested and a second group measured .215 (five shot group). It does have an 8" twist. The trigger, like all Tikka's is great. I like the extra weight for precise shooting. Was hoping to try it out on ghogs this summer but COVIR-19 may prevent that from happening - we are under a "stay at home" order.

I'm shooting 55 Nosler BT's in the Tikka 3X lite because I have a ton of them. It also has an 8" twist. I had to tune down the velocity to get these bullets to group in the .5 to .6 range. But this rifle also like the 60 V max's in the .4's.

Awesome news

I’ll have to try that load as well
I appreciate all the information on a starting place

I guess this scout that I acquired is like the Varmint only a shorter 20” barrel

what is the diameter on your Varmint barrel

I owned one and have the following observations;
SAMMI 223rem chamber so the throat was "short"
Couldn't shoot heavy bullets but shot lighter well
The magazine was also limiting as to OAL.
I sold the rifle to fund other stuff I was doing

Thanks strut 64
I measured the barrel it was .865 at the muzzle
I wonder if that is the same size contour as the Varmint
