So I'm really not getting your argument.
I understand you feel you have a better ballistic intellect than 90 %of the rest of the members, as I've read a lot of your posts bashing.
I get it, now it's my turn.
So tell us all what cartridge your shooting a 230gr @2950fps with, And while your at it with all your competitiveness, enlighten me and the rest of us the difference in drop with your 230 at stated 2950 versus my 200gr traveling @2880. My G7 is 317. Then when you get done running those #'s figure out how much more powder its taking to get your stated velocity. When you reach that # ask yourself is the cost worth the gain.
And then you might begin to understand the conversation me and another shooter were having.
Your absolutely right 2900, my bad on the extra 50fpsso you cannot get facts correct that are in print in front of you. I clearly said 2900 not the 2950 you wrote.
you choose to attack ME, not the subject. this is typically done when a person knows they have lost the discussion.
done
Actually you took 1st pokelets see your 30'06 push a 230 to 2900 from a mag bbl(26.5 in my case).
2nd poke!200 IS NOT 230.
DUH ENERGY IS NOT A 1 TO 1 RELATIONSHIP back to school
Without a doubt the 308 is a fine hunting rifle range dependent of course. I've killed so many whitetails with the 308 I can't even count them. All killed inside of 375 yards mostly with partitions. Some with Amax and Berger's. All quick easy kills with little recoil and very good accuracy. Next gun I build will be a shorter barreled 308 possibly even a carbon barrel lightweight setup. Something that you can hardly tell your carrying. Always wanted an ultralight hunting rifleI have both LA and SA Remington receivers and an Obermeyer 11.25 twist 30 cal barrel. Contour is like a Remington magnum taper. Don't need another 30BR. Leaning toward a 308. This will be a hunting rifle.
What cartridge would you choose?
7.5x55 swiss
no custom dies required
( we use to make 7,5x55 from 284 before 284 became so popular)
Take a look at the reloading manuals, the 30-06 is only a sneeze different than the .308 w. With todays powders use can damn near have the same power with a .308 so I now vote .308. I have several rifles in the caliber and love them all.I have had 4 308's and have never been a fan. I'll take a 7mm-08 over 308 any day. If I had to have a 30 cal, I'll take a 30-06 over 308.
Yep. About 150 fps/150 ft lbs different applying apples to apples. About the same as the 7mm mag to the 30-06. Not enough to want the next step up in there case of the 308. Looks bad ass tho. That does count !!!Take a look at the reloading manuals, the 30-06 is only a sneeze different than the .308 w. I considered it once. Then didn't. Didn't think it was worth it considering the unlimited supply of brass available and price is low. Not really much performance change maybe 50-75 fps.How about a .308 ackley Improved.
more like 25 or 30fps WHI considered it once. Then didn't. Didn't think it was worth it considering the unlimited supply of brass available and price is low. Not really much performance change maybe 50-75 fps.
I'll go with that. I know the Reloader 17 showed increases in that 308 improved beyond 50 fps from some guysmore like 25 or 30fps WH
