Hunting Slings

I have a "Claw" hunting sling that has the best detachable swivels I've ever used. They have a spring under the head of the screw that positively locks down the screw when tightening so it can't work loose.

I also have a the Bulter Creek "Comfort Stretch" sling which I like for carry heavy varmint rifles but the swivels do not lock and the screws sometimes work loose under heavy field use. I'd like to replace the swivels. Does anyone know of where I can purchase the type of swivels described above on the Claw sling.

This man makes nice leather slings, and "ching" slings. he is familiar with hardware. Maybe ask him...

What are you calling a claw??
Are you referring to the adjustment Frog?

Show me a pic and maybe ill recognize the brand

Can't post pictures - sorry - my antiqued computer for some reason won't allow me to do it. Hope to move into the 21th century this year.;) with a new computer if I can resist the temptation to buy another rifle. I used a slide rule in college so you can guess where I'm coming from with all this new technology.:(

But to the point, Claw Sling:

Midway Product Number: 875-453, The Claw Sling. Quake also sold them, Product Number 962-277. Purchased mine several years ago - don't know if Midway still sells them but they cling to your shoulder like glue. That guy the "Meat Eater" one of those hunting channels uses one - it's distinctive "claw" design evident.

I have an old Browning A Bolt, Varmint Stalker, 24" medium contour barrel, 223 Rem - 12" twist. Browning in their infinite wisdom has a very short forearm stock on this model making it extremely difficult to carry in the field with a sling - it's top heavy and slides all over the place. I wonder if any of these designers ever field test their products!

Anyway, I installed a shot gun barrel ban about 5 inches forward of the forearm and purchased a Claw Sling - carries like a charm now. This rifle is a sub 1/2 moa rifle even with the lousy old Browning "pot metal" trigger. Shot many of ghogs with this rifle but it's been idle for a few years but plan to bring back into action this year.

Probably more than you wanted to know. ;)
