2 Mile Range Finder?

The only way to get two miles is to use a GPS. I have a Geovid and had an artillery rangefinder, but they were inadequate when I shot my 1500 yard prairie dog years ago. They are simple and perfectly accurate.

Yes , and beyond 2 Miles . Terry , you did not specify Laser Range Finders (LRFs ) so there are various Optical Rangefinders that will do the job but they are BIG & HEAVY . The best I have seen are Wild , Zeiss , and the British one which I think was a Barr & Stroud ( sp ? ) . Also yes for the Laser Type . Good advice on the Vectronix and Euro Optic and there is a fellow in Pa. who deals in Long Range Rangefinders and Optics ( like Big-Eyes ) and I think he Posts on this Site ...... but cant recall his moniker . I have seen advertisements for some massive Commercial and Russian LRFs for Sale over the years . Don't know how they made it to Market , but some are ILLEGAL and not Eye-Safe . I would stay far away from those !

Terry,

Cody and I split the cost on a vectronics terrapin a few years ago now. It does the low 2000s on sunny, non ideal days. Out in the low 4000s in more optimal lighting.

Tom

Older Terrapin here. Very Accurate out to 2000 or so. Range reflective target halfway, then do the other half. I usually range back to the car parked at the shooting position, turn 180 and range the target.. you can effectively range a long way.

If you going to go anything short of spending 8000 dollars on a rangefinder just get a pair of SIG 3000 kilo's. They will do anything the tarrapin X will do for over 1000$ less, AND you have some damn good binoculars to boot

There are definitely laser rangefinders that are up to the task if the operator running them is also up to the task. I've had hands on the Vectronix VECTOR 23 model before. Its rated for 25 km (15 miles).

I also got to play with a pair of Steiner model M830r LRF 1535nm range finding binoculars at the 2018 NRL finale match in Las Vegas. They were pretty amazing. Using them handheld in full sunlight I was able to get 3 consecutive reads on a small cliff face at the top of a peak in the distance, 7411 yards!!!

I own the Steiner M830r LRF 8x30 model and they are very reliable out to 1860 yards, but really don't get past that number for me. Almost like they are electronically limited.

Does it exist?

Reliable?
The Terrapin is by all accounts the most reliable rangefinder out there. It was so popular that Vectronox discontinued it to try and bump up sales of their other more expensive unit.
I have a couple friends that own them. One of them was able to take part in some testing the Military did and he swears by the accuracy of the Terrapin.

EDIT
The key, I'm told, to any accuracy for a rangefinder is the beam. Many lower priced units just can't assure you the measurement you get is actually the object you're ranging due to beam width at longer distances.
