Ruger American Predator magazine fail

I just purchased an American Predator in 6mm Creedmoor, I have fired 2 shots. I removed the magazine and a small spring and a small plastic piece popped out! what gives? does anyone know how to reassemble, or where I can get a high quality magazine? I am going to contact Ruger also.

The magazine is cheap for sure.
I picked up a spare at sportsmen's warehouse.
Should be 4 pieces to the mag 2 sides spring and follower.
You should be able to load the spring on the follower and snap back together.
Maybe put a drop of glue on locking tab locations.
 
The very reason I refuse to buy a factory rifle without a drop floorplate anymore. The higher end Savage rifles are decent. I haven't handled many dbm rifles that inspire confidence.

I'm sorry yours went south so quick.
 
I think Ruger is well aware the detachable magazine on the Ruger American Rifle is a very weak point on an otherwise pretty good design. They have released a new one that is an improvement on the original but it is supposed to be a 4 round capacity for the 308, 6.5CM family. The one I bought will not feed the top round in my 6.5 Creedmoor RAP with a B&C aftermarket stock. It feeds 3 rounds perfectly, however. One of the 2 original magazines I own also has trouble with 4 rounds but the other works fine with 4. Those of you contemplating buying a Ruger American Center Fire Rifle should be forewarned the magazine is a potential problem and new ones are not cheep.

it couldn't have been another part of the gun could it? it just looks like a little black plastic tab came off and a little spring. I just assumed that it was the magazine
 
There is an aftermarket tab and spring that replaces the plastic one the factory magazine. I replaced mine as a preventative item. I think it was like $14. I'll try to find where I thought it from later today.
 
I have a Ruger American Predator in 6.5 Creedmoor with that junk rotary magazine. I read somewhere that the 450 bushmaster mag will work so I bought one and it does work better. It holds one less round but it is more like a traditional mag not rotary.
