Here's a shot of my MTR & American together, both with BScar 25 MOA scope rails. I got the American back in early Feb, and weather was awful all month for outdoor shooting. What little shooting I did do wasn't pleasing - most of the 50yd groups I shot with it were 2+ MOA. When I finally did find a MTR, it shot fine right out of the box (well, not quite - I did adjust the trigger to just under 1lb before taking it out). Have been pretty pleased with the MTR from 50-210yds so far. At some point, I may pull the bbl to thread the muzzle, and will cut a fresh 11* crown when I do. I did get out my butane torch and heat up the MTR's bolt knob, then wrapped some leather belting around it, grabbing the knob with water pump pliers and the knob came right off. Wanted to try an Area 419 knob, but they were out of stock/backordered, so I chucked-up a piece of 1" 6061 aluminum rod and turned my own extended/oversized knob, all since I shot the attached photo.
I did cut a new 11* crown on the American's bbl, and it helped accuracy - a little. After reading up & asking a few questions on aftermarket bbls for the 455/457 (they have breech design & dimensions cut to the same specs), I finally decided to buy a Shilen select match ratchet rifled #5 blank for the American. I parted-off the shank, then turned the radiused transition section down to .924", which resulted in a 3" shank that blended into the straight taper section of the blank; parting off an inch at the muzzle resulted in a finished length of 23.5", which weighed a little more than 1/2lb more than the OEM bbl. After cutting the extractor grooves, I glued the bbl into the action with Loctite #609, and it shot fine during the initial 60+rds I've had time to put through it. If the rain has truly stopped, I'll try to take it out later this afternoon to put more rounds downrange with it to confirm (or not) how well it was shooting last time. It looked good enough during that initial range session that I've been thinking about getting another Shilen for the MTR, even though that rifle's OEM bbl has been shooting pretty darned good to date....
