30 Degree at the Range Today - Great Day

Cold but no wind - no one at the range today - Great!

Took out my relatively new Vanguard 223 Rem and did my 3 x 5 card target drill shooting off my shooting sticks at 100 and 200 yards getting ready for predators now that deer rifle season is over. 6 good hits at 100 yards and 6 exceptionally good hits at 200 yards. Shooting 55 Nosler BT's behind H4895. Works well with this 9" twist.

Just love this rifle - it's becoming one of my favorites - three position safety - superior extractor - factory stock is excellent in fit and handling and trigger is good. Not a fan of two stage triggers but this one is very good once I adjusted it. Also like the 24" barrel and 7 1/2 pound weight - reminds me of the old days when rifles had some heft to them.

Also took out my Tikka T3 243. Went through the same drill shooting my favorite 243 bullet, the Sierra 85 BTHP behind Varget. Hit 11 of 12, missed one at 200 yards - my bad - I pulled the shot high - if you make the slightest mistake off the sticks you're going to miss and at my ripe old age I make a lot of mistakes.:( - just don't have the same eye / hand control I use to have but I'm still in the game. This good news is that most of the time I can call the shot - when I miss it's usually not a mystery. This bullet is a hammer on predators - knocks them flat. I've also taken a number of deer with it.

Sounds like you had a good day! 55 degrees here in Nashville Tn. Doesn't do much good to have warm temps when I'm at WORK! Guess it's true what they say, cold (bad) day at the range is still better then a good day at work.

My rifles shoot better in sub freezing temps.

As long as the wind is not howling I'm gonna shoot no matter how cold. I draw the line when the wind gusts 30+ mph.

I'M WITH YOU 100% WHEN IT COMES TO THAT WIND

A cold morning today at 45°F here in the Phoenix, AZ area and no wind. I love it when it's cool here like this that I can shoot without much, if any, concern for barrels heating up.

39 here in sunny Southern California. Checking my zero using the varmint hunter reticle. 200, 3,4 and 500 two shots each. Need to reduce power just a touch to increase subtensions. Yes, a great day to shoot. God bless America! Mike

Your lucky it is 40 deg here and much hotter in other parts. With the hot wind it feels like you are in a fan forced oven.:)
