Hey everybody. I know the 109 Berger’s ain’t been out very long but I’m just curious if any body has got to play with em yet. If so I’m curious of results. I would like to know which cartridge, twist, barrel length, jump/jam, powder and anything else you would like to ad. I got two hundred here I’m gonna test in my new 6 competition match and will post my results when I get to try em. Thanks folks!

What caliber/cartridge is your new 6 competition match?

It is a 6mm competition match. It’s based off a 243 win, maintaining the case taper with a 31 degree shoulder

A good friend shot some at 3x1000 F match last weekend out of his Dasher. He said they shot really well. He gave me a box to try. It will be a couple weeks until I can try them.

I had a chance to shoot/test a few the other day shooting 6SLR with 26" bartlein, 44 g 4831sc, Alpha brass and BR4 SRP. I shot 10 of them @ touch and 10 of them -.005....they all shot pretty well considering I dont think I was on my A game that day....lol....each 5 shot group was under 1/2 moa @ 200 yds. I did not chrono any of these.
I want to work with them some more as I just picked the powder charge out of thin air.....

Went out today and tested some more 109's with some Winchester brass this time, B2 LRP. 44.2 g H4831SC, shot 4 groups, 2 groups with a .005 jump, and 2 groups with .010 jump.
It was cold (35*) and foggy....LOL, I will use that for an excuse as to why I didnt shoot any better....
Pretty much shot the same, all 4 groups were under 1/2 MOA @ 200 yds. No real advantage at either seating depth or LRP vs SRP
I have had pretty good luck with Berger 115 VLD's anywhere from touch to .005 jammed. I will be shooting a 600 yd match first of Jan, I think I will run the 109's and see how they do.

Berger 115 VLD's from touch to .005 jam worked well with my barrel.
I tried 115 Dtac's both coated and naked and so far cannot get them to shoot.....Hey! it's a 6mm shotgun.....LOL

I am a fiddler.....always messing with stuff.....LOL

Thanks for the reply. I was only asking because I was wondering how previous bullets shot to compare to how the 109’s are shooting for you.
I understand the fiddling, I’m the same damn way. Always messing with things. Figure it’s a good thing.

I got to try some 109’s finally the other day. I tested from 48.0-49.2 grains of h1000. All my groups were five shot groups at 200 yards and all bullets were jumping .005. The wind was horrible (18-25 mph constantly changing from 6 o’clock to 9 o’clock). I don’t have any pictures but from what I seen I believe they are going to shoot incredible. Two groups were under a inch and one group was under 1/2” so with the conditions I was fairly happy. Next time out I’m gonna shoot a ladder because now I believe my barrel is good and broke in with 125 rounds on the new barrel. I will follow my ladder with some different seating depths and report back.
My rifle: 6 competition match, .110 freebore, no turn neck, 27” bartlein 4 groove .237 bore, 7.7 twist on a impact action. Sittin in a AI chassis with a Schmidt & Bender nestled in a near AlphaMount.

Does anyone have a few of these that they would trade? I would like to try them but not wanting to buy a whole box till I see how they do in my 8 twist. I have plenty of 22 and 24 cal bullets to trade!

Sorry this is kind of long but I’m trying to pre-answer some of the questions that others have been asking. The Cliff Notes version is I like them and plan to change over from the Berger 105 Target Hybrids.

I just tried them in my 6 Creedmoor. It’s a cut-rifled 26” Bartlein 5R 1:7.5 on an ARC Nucleus action, and using a suppressor also. I’m just doing load development and I use a Magnetospeed so I just have the groups so far. The best group was today, five shots with an extreme spread of 0.12” at 100 yds, using Hodgdon H4350 and CCI 450M primers. This is a little better than the best previous of 0.163” using 38 gr same powder and primer with Berger 105 Target Hybrids.

I have 800 of the 105s in unopened boxes of lot number P0388 that need a good new home, send me a PM if you will offer a fair price for the bullets plus the shipping, otherwise I’ll just shoot them up before moving over to the 109s.

I didn’t find a load that I liked better than the 105s, so I’m not shooting the 109s at the moment.

I'm shooting the 109's in a 6x47L, 26" Krieger 1:7.75, with RL-16 and #450's. Jumping them about 10 thou. Found a node at 3065fps. Shot three groups that beat my previous personal best at 200m. Loaded up 100 to play with.
