Savage feeding issues

I have Savage models 10 and 112 rifles in .223 both have cartridge feeding issues. Short COAL seem to feed better but still have trouble feeding. Cartridges with longer bullets say .010–030 off lands don’t feed good even when feeding out of well.
My question is does any one know of any one who makes a single shot follower for Savage rifles. Or has a sketch to make one.

Member @andrewsben used to make a 3D printed version that works really good, but I haven’t noticed him around in a while.

@urbanrifleman is in the 3D printing biz so he might make them as well.

I actually need a couple more for a Savage and one for Rem 700 long action.

SSS makes one. A real good one.

I'm not sure a Remington wouldn't work just fine. They are really similar. I modified my SsS Savage follower to work in my Remington.

Personally, I would send mine out to have it laser laser scanned and copied before I would deal with SSS.

Andrewsben is a great guy. He had some listed on ebite. I reached out to him later.
FYI these are for the inline feed not the stagger.
I had issues with my 17 Fireball. I did some epoxy work on mine, works like a champ.
All can laugh, the follower fit the action so well I just used a few narrow pieces of gorilla tape. Been on there a little over a year and still fine and easily removable.

Pm me if need be and we can chat. More than happy to help.

I bought one of Bob's Sleds from his website for my savage action. Works just fine for a single shot sled.

If it is a straight feed, there is no way I see that replacing the follower will make it a single shot.

Pull one apart and look. Lips are narrow so that it strips the rounds straight out, ledge on each side of the extension.
I searched high and low for what the OP describes, no such animal.

Savages wisdom there..........

Bob Sled is a solid product.

@chevi_guy take a look at how your rounds are sitting in the mag. You may need to bend the feed lips to adjust the starting angle. If you bend them, go slow with very small adjustments.

Looking around sharp shooter supply list on for center feed now, say it is a follower.

I still think you will have to use some care and make sure the cartridge is in the trough.

I'm still half around but been so busy with FD, day job, and family I haven't had time to visit forums very often. I do still make the 3D printed ones, in short and long action, for non-inletted stock and for internal magazine (make it a little taller than I have found most stock inlet then when putting in can easily sand down to a precise fit). Anywho, still alive and whatnot, haven't been on forums for a while but saw Mark messaged me and then saw alterts when I went to reply, not sure why mentions and other alters besides messages aren't coming through anymore...

Also, I have a remington long action that I would like to model one off of, but have it shooting around .1 so afraid to mess with the torque by removing it. Wife is getting me a much better torque driver for xmas, so might attempt it at that time since I should be able to work up in torque till I find the setting... Do have at least an Archimides and a Bat action for a 700 footprint that I could use but doubt it would be correct, don't think that they are that close of "clones".

Good to see ya mister.
You get geared up I have that modified follower I can send you. It was the one for 223 that needed some help to get the little 17 Fireball chambered. Works slick now;)

That would be awesome, those little rounds are crazy tricky to get dialed in with single shot followers, and not actually having one... A couple times I have ended up just sending a whole bunch of them with difference angles to people and hoping that they would let me know which one worked for them, with ebay people they didn't but left good feedback so assumed one of them worked well for them.

Been swamped with FD, but mainly good things, we got a $205,000 grant from FEMA to get a new water tanker/tender, which lead to tons of meetings and paperwork. Have it lined up and the chassis is now ordered. Had to try to come up with $25K (which isn't very easy in a top 10 poorest community in the nation) to get turn out gear for new members and members with aged out gear, which we just got in last week. Have a couple trucks that need to go into the shop for repairs, but from my side there isn't much work to it, just finding the money for the repairs, which one of them is the most used pumper in the county and has to get back on the road, so think i can talk the county administrators into paying for it. So my to-do at the FD is down to normal stuff and a couple tune-ups/brake jobs.

I'm hopefully actually going to have a couple weeks off of my day job starting next week as well, so hopefully some free time to mess with things. We usually shut down for the week between X-Mas and New Years, but with only 2 work days before and 2 after, my whole team is basically just going to take the whole two weeks off. Wish it wasn't going to be cold and rainy, have tons of rifles built (the one shooting thing I can do is build things at night) that I need to do so break-in and load development. Might just run some rounds through for break in anyways, but I don't need cold weather loads, so wouldn't do anything but the break-ins.

Anywho, just shoot me a PM, as apparently other notifications haven't been coming through and wouldn't have seen the mention in this thread unless I hadn't logged in cause I got the notification of PM from Mark and saw the alert in the top once on the site.
